Hi everyone,

Most people know me as the chef behind HOSPREP.

What many don't know is that none of this would have been possible without my mum.

In 1972, she arrived in the UK from Hong Kong with very little money and very little English.

Life wasn't easy.

Then after my dad passed away in 1983, she carried on doing whatever she had to do to provide for our family.
She worked multiple jobs, raised three children and kept going even when things were difficult.

Growing up, I watched her work harder than anyone I knew.

She never complained.

And she never looked for shortcuts.

At 74 years old, she's still involved in the business.

And somehow, despite not speaking much English, she manages to keep a very tight ship 🤪

The team all know her 😉

They know when she's happy ☺️

And they definitely know when she's not 😂

I've worked in kitchens for over 30 years, and I've learned that you don't always need words to communicate.

Sometimes a look is enough 👀

My mum has mastered that skill 😂

People often ask me what the best business advice I've ever received.

It wasn't from a business book.

It wasn't from a successful entrepreneur.

It came from my mum.

"Never forget the people who helped you when you had nothing."

That lesson has shaped my life and how I run HOSPREP.

We try to look after our team.

We appreciate our customers.

So today I'd like to say thank you to everyone who’s has supported HOSPREP over the last 3 years.

And the biggest THANK YOU to my mum.

Last week I shared a little about my journey as a Chinese chef and how HOSPREP came to life.

This week I’d like to introduce you to the other half of HOSPREP – my wife Pamela.

Pamela runs her own personal training and online coaching business, Body Confident With Pam.

One of the things I admire most about her is that she doesn’t focus on quick fixes or extreme diets.
Instead, she helps people feel more confident in themselves.
Over the years she’s worked with many people who felt frustrated with food, overwhelmed by conflicting advice, or simply stuck in a cycle of starting and stopping.

One thing she often says is:
“Healthy living should add to your life, not take away from it.”

That’s a philosophy we both share.
As a chef, I’ve always believed food should be enjoyed.
Pamela believes healthy habits should be sustainable.
When we created HOSPREP, we wanted to bring those two ideas together.
Great tasting food and realistic nutrition.

Not perfection.

Not restriction.

Just helping people enjoy the foods they love while making healthier choices a little easier.

Prior to HOSPREP I spent many years running a Chinese takeaway.

The main equipment in traditional Chinese cooking is cooking with woks
Woks are brilliant. They allow chefs to cook quickly and at very high temperatures which creates the flavours that we all know and love
But woks aren’t non-stick so we have to season the wok with oil for every single meal. That's one of the reasons some Chinese dishes can contain more oil and calories than many people realise 😔

As Pamela and I are health conscious as she is a Personal Trainer we wanted to take the flavours we loved and
build them into meals that fit more easily into a healthy lifestyle.

We had to find other ways of creating tasty Chinese meals without the extra calories and oil..

Not because traditional cooking is wrong.

Just because we’re solving a different problem.
