We’re looking to add to the team: someone with good barista experience and a proper customer service head on them. 24-32 hours a week, Glasgow Living Wage and benefits package. We’d like someone who can fit in with the friendly neighbourhood coffee shop vibe. Someone with real enthusiasm for speciality coffee. With only a couple of weeks to go until Mission to Jönköping, we roped in our good pals and wholesale partners STUDIO VELO to come up and give Scott’s bike a good going over - and of course a pink flourish! They also came through with some VERY nice (and generous) kit support. We so appreciate it. If you find yourself even remotely close to the Galloway Forest Park then you’ve got to visit Studio Velo. Banging coffee, shiny bikes and good people.

The Kay’s Coffee project has been going great guns so far- we’re very close to our fundraising target, and every tin you buy gets us a little bit closer. We’ve been working with our pals for a fair few years now. They do the donuts that you go mad for in our gaff every Fri, Sat. Sun. And now that they’ve got two shops of their own (one west end, one town) we do the coffee that you go mad for in their gaffs Thu-Sun. And now they’ve added a Cartel-inspired flavour to their repertoire, introducing: The Bronco Espresso Glaze, with brown sugar, toasted hazelnuts, grated dark chocolate. It’s a certified banger. More GOOD stuff: next month our very own will be racing the Warsaw Ironman 70.3 in aid of 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️Mhairi started triathlons around 2 years ago and this will be her first middle distance Ironman event. She is racing this event to support one of her younger sisters and others who live with MS. Heather was diagnosed with MS when she was still a teenager and seeing her work hard through uni and smash her artwork has been such an inspiration Mhairi. THIS ONE’S FOR KAY
Another huge project that we’re very glad to finally share with you all — this is Kay’s Coffee.
Kay’s Coffee is a project incredibly close to our hearts, created in honour of Kay. For those of you who don’t know her, Kay is the mother of co-founder Courtney and our production/design guy Scott. She’s also been a valued wholesale customer of the Cartel for the past 9 years — someone who has backed us, supported us, and championed what we do from very early on.

In 2024 Kay was diagnosed with Grade 2 breast cancer. Since her diagnosis she has undergone a full mastectomy, six rounds of chemotherapy, and fifteen rounds of radiotherapy. She continues her treatment journey with long-term immunotherapy and unfortunately is not yet cancer-free.

Through every stage of this fight, Kay has shown extraordinary strength, resilience, and positivity — lifting those around her even in the hardest moments. This coffee release is deeply personal to all of us and is our way of honouring her journey and showing our support in any way we can.

Profits from sales of Kay’s Coffee will be split between two amazing cancer charities, and it doesn’t hurt that the coffee is a banger - link in our bio for the full story and all the details. Available in store and online NOW!

Could this be one of the best coffee shops in Europe? After we made it into the UK’s Top 50 we now have a chance to crack into Europe’s Top 100 via .uk and ☕️In many ways it’s just like that movie Pitch Perfect 2. We really really appreciated everyone who voted for us, and if you were at all motivated to go again then now’s the time. People showing up for the indie Scottish coffee scene is heartwarming in the extreme. Scotland punched well above our weight for the UK Top 50, so let’s show Europe what we’ve got.
