For the last 38 weeks, I've been churning up a very special flavour, and now she's finally ready! 🥰 Our perfect little Gelatessina arrived at the beginning of last week, and seems to have brought with her this glorious weather! Our wee bambina is thriving, and Mum and Dad are deep in the trenches of cluster feeding 🥴 I thought running a business whilst pregnant was hard, but nothing prepares you for the first week post partum! 😅

Thankfully, we have the support of our amazing Team Gela, who have been entirely running the show for the last two weeks. Last week was our busiest week of the year so far, and these guys knocked it out the park 💪 So please be kind to them, they will be working their asses off to keep you fine people in top quality fresh gelato this summer🍦

LA GELATESSA X Easter Weekend Special! 🐣

The absolute legends over are supplying us with their delicious hot cross buns this easter weekend, delivered fresh every day, and we're stuffing them to the brim with gelato and caramel sauce. Why? because there's just not enough indulgence to be had at easter, is there? 🤷🏻‍♀️

And since the weather is looking so poor (classic 🤌) we'll also be running a take home deal for those of you who want to enjoy their gelato hot cross buns at home.

500ml brick (max 2 flavours) + 2 hot cross buns + tub of homemade caramel sauce - £12.50

1000ml brick (max 3 flavours) + 4 hot cross buns + 2 tubs homemade caramel sauce - £25

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! 💐 Aaaaaaand, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US 🥳

Today we celebrate the greatness of the women who brought us all into this world, and also our third birthday. So what better way to celebrate than with cake? 🎂

We have created a sort of Neopolitan baked alaska, with layers of chocolate fudge cake, strawberry gelato, and vanilla gelato, covered in toasted Italian meringue, and served with cherry sauce 🍫🍓🍦

We have limited slices available and it's first come first serve, so get down quick!

I also just want to take the opportunity to thank every single person who has walked through our door and supported us through the years.

It's taken so much hard work to make La Gelatessa what it is today. I poured my heart and soul into the vision for this place and I'm so lucky I got the chance to create the shop I'd always dreamed of, and beyond grateful that you guys welcomed it with open arms from day one 🫶

We have a very rare and exciting opportunity for the right person to join our kitchen team in 2026!

We are looking for someone passionate and reliable to join us primarily on a seasonal basis with potential for an extended period. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who loves working with food, takes pride in quality and is a real team player (and a love for gelato, obviously!)

The Role -

✨️Producing high-quality gelato to our recipes and standards

✨️Preparing and handling ingredients in a commercial kitchen environment

✨️Maintaining excellent hygiene and food safety standards

✨️Support in management of stock levels and forward planning

✨️Assisting front of house when required, including serving customers and supporting the team during busy periods

What We’re Looking For -

✨️Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen is highly desirable

✨️A genuine passion for food and craftsmanship

✨️Willingness to learn – full gelato-specific training will be provided

✨️Strong attention to detail and consistency

✨️A flexible, team-focused attitude, including the ability to work front of house

✨️The job is physically demanding and you must be able to lift up to 25kg (bags of sugar, buckets of milk etc.)

✨️Must have the right to work in the UK

Hours & Contract -

✨️Full-time seasonal position from Febuary to September (training period from Febuary to end of March)

✨️Around 40 Hours per week over 5 days (Wednesday-Sunday) (hours may be negotiable)

✨️Rate of pay will initially be the current Scottish Real Living Wage, then will increase once training is complete.

✨️If desired, a part time role after September may be considered.

And that's a wrap for 2025 from us! We're now on our festive break until 7th January.

Beyond grateful for everyone who has stepped through our door this year. Thank you for keeping the gelato dream alive! We wouldn't be here without you 🙏💖

On a personal level, this year has been a real tough one. Behind the scenes, I began the year in grief, having sadly lost a good friend. Then gradually, my physical health started to decline, resulting in a week long stay in hospital in the middle of summer. Shortly after, I was diagnosed with MS. Thankfully, our NHS have a magnificent MS support network in place and my road to recovery was swift and expertly guided.

My saving grace however has been our team at the shop, who banded together so effortlessly, during our busiest time of year, to take care of things while Dave and I took the proper time needed to recover. There are no words to express my gratitude for you guys. Best team ever ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

But miraculously, this year has ended on a real high note for us. If anyone has noticed I haven't been in the shop as much these past few months, it's because for the past 21 weeks I've been busy growing a tiny human! We are beyond delighted to announce we are expecting our first bambino, early May 2026 👶🎉

As a result of this, a very rare and exciting opportunity will become available to work in our kitchen in the new year (anyone want to spend their summer making gelato? 👀) More details and job advert to follow soon, but first...I need a lie down.
