It is with immense sadness that we mark the passing of former Gurkha and world-renowned mountaineer, Nirmal “Nimsdai” Purja.
Nimsdai heartbreakingly lost his life following the devastating avalanche on Broad Peak on Thursday 30 July, while pursuing the passion and purpose that defined so much of his remarkable life.
A proud former Gurkha, Nimsdai inspired countless people around the world through his courage, determination, and unwavering belief that no goal was beyond reach. His legacy extends far beyond the mountains he climbed and will continue to inspire generations to come.
Our heartfelt thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family, friends, former numberi and all those who served alongside him, as well as the global mountaineering community, as they come to terms with this immense loss.
We also hold in our hearts all the families who have lost someone in this harrowing event. At such a difficult time, we stand in solidarity with all those affected and remember those whose lives were lost too soon.
