Café Walton Nestled in the heart of Whitton Riverside Gardens, Café Walton is your go-to spot for specialty coffee, artisan bakes, and relaxed riverside vibes.

We open from 730am to 430pm daily.

Whilst we don’t want this to be a daily update of the behaviour and sabotage that we’re dealing with, this, unfortunately, is life to us right now.

Every morning, there’s something new to deal with. As you can see in the video, we were scoped out at about 5am today. The perpetrator tried all doors (including the staff entrance, which has a massive CCTV sign), the kitchen window, and all other access points.

This was probably more opportunistic than a break-in attempt, but the stupidity is off the scale.

To be clear:
We’re monitored by our 8 CCTV cameras covering the perimeter of the building.
We have CCTV inside.
WLDC further monitor the rest of the gardens and can help identify individuals for the police to deal with.
Our locks are top-level.
Each door/window is further protected by a shutter.

If you're excited for the solar eclipse on Wednesday evening, then head down to the riverside for a great vantage point.

We'll be opening up from 6pm to 730pm and will have our outside seating area open.

Grab a coffee, cold soda, or even an ice cream. Takeaway cups only.

We’re feeling a little flat at Café Walton today.

Many mornings, we arrive to find some form of minor vandalism or sabotage. Sometimes it’s plants being ripped out, things being damaged or moved, and of course, we’ve also had an attempted break-in.

For the most part, we choose not to post about these things. We understand that, unfortunately, this can sometimes go with the territory of running a business, and we’d much rather focus on the positives.

However as you can see in the video, at around 7:10pm last night, our lovely rope barriers were forcibly removed. We’ve searched around the gardens this morning but, can’t find the main one.

This time, we’re going to access the wider CCTV coverage and report the incident to the police, as the main rope barrier has been taken and this is theft.

It’s frustrating and, honestly, quite disheartening. We put a huge amount of time, effort and love into Café Walton and into creating this beautiful space for everyone to enjoy, but we won’t be broken down!

We’ll keep improving the space. We’ll keep planting, decorating, creating and making Café Walton somewhere that you can all be proud of.

Gorgeous morning down on the riverside with not a cloud in the sky. Great to see so many customers enjoying their morning coffee and pastry.

The ice machine is cranked up and the ice cream freezer has been re-stocked.

It’s due to hit 32 degrees this afternoon so we are planning on closing a little earlier than normal at 430pm.

We're absolutely delighted that so many of you are enjoying our new outside area - Walton's Al Fresco!

For those of you who have been asking about our planting scheme, we’ve chosen Boxwood, Euonymus Japonica & Ivy.

We wanted to create a space that's relaxing, green, and welcoming all year round. A little riverside oasis where you can sit, relax, and enjoy your coffee.

We've also now launched QR code ordering for anyone who prefers to grab a table first and order from their phone. It's a great option if you're settling in outside or simply fancy ordering at your own pace.

That said, we'll always love seeing our customers at the till too. So whether you order by QR code or pop in to see us, you'll always receive the same warm welcome.

Huge thanks to Rob and Andrew from Rufford Garden Designs for all the hard work they've carried out over the past two weeks. They've done an amazing job creating our new al fresco area.

We're still waiting for the arrival of our new tables, decorations and a few finishing touches, but with the weather being hot hot hot this weekend, we’re opening slightly earlier than planned.

Please note though: as we currently don't have tables in place, all drinks served outside will be in takeaway cups only.

And don't forget, we have picnic blankets available to borrow, if you want to head onto the grass in the gardens.

Over the next week, you'll notice some changes taking place outside as we prepare for what we hope will be a fantastic summer together.

We're installing new planters, upgrading our outdoor seating, adding better tables, and generally giving our outside space a glow-up!

As a result, there will be some disruption to our current outdoor seating area whilst the work is underway. If you'd like to take your drinks outside during this period, they'll be served in takeaway cups, and if all available seating is temporarily occupied, we encourage you to enjoy the wider Whitton Riverside Gardens.

Thank you for your patience and support whilst we make these improvements. We think it will be worth the wait!

A slightly disappointing start to the day at Café Walton this morning.

Our CCTV captured two people attempting to gain entry to the café just after 930pm last night. We're hoping it was simply a bit of thoughtless messing around rather than anything more serious, but unfortunately the padlock to the shutter mechanism has been messed with and we may be slightly delayed opening this morning.

We have full CCTV covering the café, and WLDC also have their live monitoring of Whittons Riverside Gardens.

Open ‘til 4pm today. Lots of pastries in the cabinet and Ultimate Carrot is back!
