Yesterday was one of those days that will stay with us for a long time.
Hosted by norwegianseafoodcounciluk, alongside fellow winners from the National Federation of Fish Friers - NFFF National Fish & Chip Awards, we were given a genuine money-can’t-buy insight into the Norwegian fishing industry.
The day started aboard Gier, where we were welcomed with a speech from Norway’s Fisheries Minister before heading out on RIB boats into the breathtaking fjords.
After exploring the fjords, we boarded Gier out on the water for a tour of the vessel, learning about the fishing methods, sustainability, and the huge amount of care, attention and investment that goes into producing frozen-at-sea fish. Seeing it all firsthand was a real eye-opener and gave us a greater appreciation for the standards and dedication behind the industry.
We then made our way back to Ålesund, taking in some incredible scenery along the way, before enjoying dinner at Alnes Lighthouse—an unforgettable setting after an unforgettable day.
