🥈🌿 A Silver Award for ‘A Picture Postcard: Coastal Garden’ 🌿🥈
What a weekend at the Scotland Garden Show. We were proud to sponsor Miki and Katie’s show garden called ‘A Picture Postcard: Coastal Garden’.
It beautifully celebrated Banffshire, drawing inspiration from its coastline, countryside and forests. A winding path echoed sea foam, pinecones represented woodland, and thoughtful planting reflected the surrounding landscape, with tatties and neeps adding a true North East touch. 🥔
The friends combined creativity and expertise: Miki shaped the artistic vision, while Katie, a community gardener from Keith, planned and built the design, finding the process therapeutic and rewarding.
Sustainability was key, with many plants coming from Katie’s own garden and even repurposed Tesco tubs used to grow tatties. Proving great gardens don’t need fancy materials. 🌱♻️
Featuring plants like clematis, marigolds, pansies, strawberries, cosmos, lobelia, violas and heathers. All sourced from Simpson’s in Mintlaw and available to buy in store, subject to availability.
The display will continue to give back after the show. The tattie boxes will be reused in care homes, giving residents the chance to harvest their own potatoes, while plants will be donated to community projects, including Leith Community Garden.
Congratulations to Miki and Katie on their Silver Award. A fantastic team effort (and a strong case for more tatties in show gardens!) 🌿🥔
