Well that's it!
After 123 years, dozens if owners, probably 1000s of staff, must be millions of portions of fish and chips. It's over, doors shut , fryer is empty and goodbyes gave been said.
Ngl I had a little cry when I turned the gas off one last time.
Seems fitting our last customer was one of if not our first customer kris butler , buying jumbo chips and gravy in honour of his grandad who introduced him to the dolphin in 1998 and been a customer ever since, those that know know I'm partial to nicknames and kris's was captain fishcakes lol.
15 years has been our tenure, we've had ups and downs. Trials and tribulations. Good years and bad, but in the end we did it together and ready for our next challenge (I'll update after Christmas)
I want to take a moment to thank all our customers, the staff who have worked for us and our suppliers especially midland fish and Dave and Colin Andrews who made our job easier with the best haddock.
And most importantly the good people of Fleetwood, we've made many friends over the years and enjoyed serving you.
On a final note, I'm making a time capsule I'm going to hide in a wall with a letter from us explaining the history of Fleetwoods oldest chippy menus, pictures, newspaper cuttings and 2 interviews. I've been asking customers today to write on an a4 piece of paper their name, address and a memory of the chippy or anything else they'd like to write. Put it in an envelope and put it I'm a Bix which on new years say ill stash in a secret place. We WONT be reading these letters but putting em the time capsule. If you would like to put a letter in si someone in the future can read it , please put in sealed envelope and post through the chippy door before new years day.
Primrose has done hers see pic and hopefully in 40 50 years time it'll be found and become history of Fleetwood.
Fleetwood...... it's been emotional
Thank you all
Tony and Sharon
