Dear Customers,

WE ARE FULLY OPEN AND OPERATIONAL.

Thank you to all the Customers that came yesterday (24/10/26) when we reopened, and thank you for your tolerance. We got our electricity back around 7.05pm. Orders came straightaway and as did Customers to dine in, however, it did take the kitchen some time to fire up the equipment and prep everything (this normally takes over an hour in general). Most of our staff were sent home, luckily one or two came back. This led to some delays on orders, yet again, majority of customers were understanding and kind, thank you.

We lost a lot of trade as we had to cancel many large orders, and tables (we had over 10 tables- we cancelled them all before 6pm as we weren't sure if we could reopen or when- National Grid did not give any indication), we lost over 3 hours trade and prep. We will not receive any compensation especially when the fault wasn't ours-our insurance doesn't cover such events, in future we will try add this. National Grid offer a flat rate of £190 for the first 12 hours for businesses....what a joke...our first order of the day was £164.

We tried our best to contact and explain to all our customers; we may have missed a few as many people called at the same time. We did try to update on Facebook on top of the stressful situation we faced.

In the big scheme of things, we are very lucky and thankful, things could be much worse. Especially with the current situation around the world; we pray people are kept safe from wars and natural disasters.

Book ahead if possible or walk in. We do fill up quickly therefore booking ahead is alway great. However, we will always fit you in and we have many great pubs/bars around us.

It's a funny week; whilst we have tables booked, we aren't at capacity which is understandable given the 'cost of living' and interest hikes.

Thank you for helping us get to 5 years. It's been years of hard work, and we hope to be here another few years. It has been a pleasure serving Heavitree and the rest of Exeter; we have amazing customers. Last year, in 2025, we brought home a prestigious award to celebrate our 4th year. This year celebrations are a little muted, however, pop in and we will look after you. And hopefully we will have some treats....🙃

Times are hard, and we understand it's taking a strain on everyone's finances, however, it's always great to get together and have a laugh and see friends and family. At Tamarind Bay, you do not need to spend a lot to enjoy our friendly service and quality food.

Anything we can do to accommodate our guest/customers, please let us know. If you wish to bring a birthday cake, please do, we won't charge you. We don't charge or have any mandatory service charge or expect a tip. If there's a drink you like and we don't have it, let us know in advance and we will specially stock it for you. Nothing is too much.
