We do not have a TV, fruit or quiz machines, 'piped' / pre-recorded music, jukebox or other distractions. We do, however, have a cozy atmosphere, great beers, regular live music and a warm welcome that'll make you feel like you've been a regular for years, even if it's your first visit.

A simply exceptional weekend of music coming up in Evesham — we're bringing five acts to the town, across three nights.

— Friday 26th June, 9pm at The Red Lion —
The Neirin Duo. Drew and Marie are great friends of the pub (and also to many people in Evesham), and they're bringing their funky, soulful, blues sound for a very cool evening of superb music.

— Saturday 27th June, 7pm at Wallace House —
We begin with Jessica Law & The Outlaws who "would probably get laughed off the X-Factor for not sounding exactly the same as everybody else" (Nightshift Magazine) and that on its own is good enough for us. They're an alternative folk band specialising in witty, dramatic original songs with a strong storytelling element.

Then we welcome Chris Dent, of Albi & The Wolves, on a solo tour from New Zealand. Winner of Best Folk Artist at the New Zealand Folk Awards, Chris brings high-energy folk mixed with intimate and reflective moments to create rich acoustic textures and emotionally charged performances.

Absolutely a night not to miss. Tickets are £10, on the door or in advance from https://redlionevesham.co.uk/event/chris-dent-albi-the-wolves/ (or pop into the pub).

— Sunday 28th June, 4pm at The Red Lion —
To round off the weekend, we present James Slater, a consummate and deservedly-respected artist. He plays genres you might not even have heard of, from contemporary folk, alt-country, swampy blues, to red dirt. You'll have to ask him about it.

He'll be followed by more great friends of the pub, Guy & Cathy Mansfield Smith. Guy's lilting burr, cleverly-crafted lyrics, and intricate guitar and mandolin playing are the perfect compliment to Cathy's superb bass skills.

The temperatures are dropping, but the music is certainly heating up... see you over the weekend.

Introducing ... Lolly the Pink. Deliciously cold frozen cider, available now!

Inspired by Bernard Black's wine lolly, and a gleeful pun from Chantell for the name.

Despite the fact she'd probably rather be on the beach, we're going ahead with Chessi O'Dowd's Open Mic tonight (Thurs 25th June).

The pub is still lovely and cool, and if the usual "Musician's Corner" is still bathed in sunlight we'll move back down the pub a bit so it's not too hot for you.

8pm start.

Absolute bliss. And the beer is even colder (12°)... we're open all afternoon and evening as usual if you're seeking refuge.

Sadly, though, we've had to cancel the quiz tonight: https://redlionevesham.co.uk/2026/06/24/june-quiz-cancelled/ but we'll make a decision about next month soon and let you all know.

Come on down to The Red Lion tonight — Tuesday 23rd June, 8pm — for a cool, cool evening of jazz, and not a football-filled TV screen in sight.

The pub is a real sanctuary from the heat (as well as the World Cup, if that's what you're looking for) at the moment, plenty of beers, ciders, friendly faces, music, and more.

The best place to sit in this weather? By the fireplace. Pull up a chair.

We've brought our backup cellar air conditioner up to take the edge off the next couple of days (in spite of the sad irony of using more energy to fight rising temperatures) but we do also need to consider staff & customers in these exceptional circumstances.

Rumours of a £10 an hour charge to sit on one of the armchairs next to the aircon are as unfounded as those about the installation of a firewood vending machine last winter. Mind you, if this carries on we might start renting out tables in the 12°C cellar...

Last call for teams for our Grand Summer Quiz, Wednesday 24th June from 7pm. We're heading through the alley to All Saints Church this month, and timing-wise, it's worked out well as we should be a bit cooler in there during all this heat.

Because of the weather, we're switching to cold platters as we can't inflict 40° kitchen temperatures on Rob. If you've already booked, check your email for an update.

"Aren't you worried they might attract insects?", someone mysteriously asked when we were planting the flowers outside the pub — well, no, frankly. We'd be incredibly disappointed if they didn't. And here's a stunning hummingbird hawk-moth to prove our point. It popped along this evening for some sumptuous nectar, and we're very, very, grateful to Nina (on her visit from Cornmill Yard) for the photo.
