Finals days of Spoon&Co have arrived🎉🎉

Was not gonna make another fancy@poster for this one so please deal with the notes app screenshot.

Gonna be a chill few days and that first week of January I will be closed for renovations for 🧙‍♂️🧙‍♂️

I will still have the coffee machine on for take away and for those who don’t mind being in a room of paint fumes and chaos ###

Last SOIRÉE CINÉMA of the year🎉🎉🎉

It’s been a great time doing these nights with all of you. Could not stress enough how appreciative I am for every single person who’s donated any amount of money for tickets for these.
No amount is ever expected and I appreciate every single penny that has been given for the “donation tickets” for these nights

This Thursday at 8pm A.K.A the last film for the year I made sure to add a lovely lil cozy film that MAY just have new years elements to it.
“When Harry met sally…”
Sue me it’s the best film of all.

There’s the link to donate for tickets in the bio and a cute lil trailer for those who who got no clue what this is 🙏🙏🙏

Been a great year with Soirée Cinéma and it shall be coming back for January.

For the 25th of December I will be open 11am-8pm (onwards)

This day for everyone fortunate enough can be really really lovely, and I’m NOT here to knock anyone that does celebrate it🙏🙏😭😭😭
But for those who don’t celebrate, this can be for personal situations or religious reasons, it can be a very isolated day. With everywhere being closed and everyone being busy.

Here at “Spoon&Co” at Marchmont Crescent 100 I’ve decided to open for the day giving out as many free teas as I can and a couple options of soups and pizza slices to give out for free the day. Non of this is for celebrating the specific day. It’s all for the people.
Feel more than welcome to bring whoever & whatever you’d like to pass the time if you do want to loiter for a chunk of the day. No pressure at all on how long you can stay🙏🙏

I’ve set up a PayPal in the link of this instagrams bio to help me fund days like these and overall to help fund this space as sadly there are reasons places like spoon are not a thriving idea in the eyes of “a business” (the suits don’t like problems to be resolved as they gain more money themselves from us not being able to fund helping each other out).

A repost with this post goes a long way incase anyone who is interested does see it so much would be appreciated from all🙏🙏

Hope you all have a lovely 25th non the less🩵🤍🩵

Tickets are up for this Thursday film screening at Spoon&Co🍿🎬

🩵🤍🩵

Put EFFORT into finding a copy of this film to show you guys.

Excited to show Mamoru Oshii‘s “Angel’s Egg”
A beautifully animated, dystopian, Japanese piece from the 80’s.
Only an hour 15 this one but packed with insanely drawn out landscapes, characters and symbolism I personally cannot comprehend 🤷‍♂️ someone help me here please.

£2.50 pizza slices and low priced drinks will be served before, after and if you have the balls to ask during the film🙏🙏🙏

Tickets are just donation as usual ######

Cya’s there. Mwah!

I’ve been waiting for this one for a long time👏👏 lots of planning for this night

Spoon&Co’s first “sip n’ paint”🧑‍🎨🍷

With help from , a new friend to the shop that has the same goal that I set out to do with spoon, which is to build a safe and social community: an inviting community for new comers to the city🙏🙏 and also the man himself a spoon regular for a long time now, but most importantly a maddd artist that I truly believe KNOWS what art should be to humans.

Sip n’ paint is going to be a night that we supply basic art supplies (paper, range of pens, pencil, oi pastel etc), drinks, conversation cards from that are a great way to get to know people, but most importantly we are giving a warm comfortable space for anyone to come by and spark conversations and do some silly lil drawing.

Feel more then welcome to bring ANY art supplies you’d like🙏 I can supply palettes for paint and water for ur brushes🙏🙏

Sip n’ paint WILL BE pay what u can to join and then option to tip if you’d like based on your experience at the end😘

All skill levels welcome, especially new comers👏👏👏

November 12th, 7:30pm at Spoon&Co

Our first event in a minute 😭😭🙏🙏🙏

Happy to see that everyone I’ve mentioned this night to has loved the idea and a wee (Wii) crowd is forming for this night.

For our first “Wii night in” the game will be “Wii sports: specifically tennis”. We’ll have a huge projector with the current players on and a chance for rotational commentators (that part will end up a mistake I know)🧙‍♂️

“A Wii night in” will be a night to join a tournament for only a fiver, for the chance to win prizes and just get some dopamine in ya body. Pay at counter for your spot so first come first serve🙏 No need to pay if you would just like to come by to watch and talk!

Prizes🎉
1st= 2 free items of food, 3 free drinks
2nd= 1 free item of food, 2 free coffees
3rd= 2 free coffees
4th= 1 free coffee
(These can be claimed whenever you’d like and don’t need to be all at once in 1 night👏)

BYOB with corkage of course. Duhh

Excited for this wholesome one, hope to see you’s there🙏

(Idk why the post is so low resolution but a poster will be in the shop asap)

New Film Season
by the Rep Cinema
starts tomorrow at 19.30

Free entry, all welcome.

Mother!
One word for six films featuring images of motherhood, from the American melodrama to art house film and on to modern realism. In between we will find the mother both poetic and abject, but let us give them all our time if not always our unconditional affection. Giving birth is indeed an act of labour, and every child has only one woman to thank for their existence.

This season is dedicated to the memory of my mother, Aristi.

Thank you to all who came to the first night of our film fest last night.

Special thanks to the director Razan who spoke about her short film Go Home. A heartbreaking insightful glimpse into the asylum process in the UK. Razan also spoke about life in her homeland and specifically Gaza post and present living under the absolute injustice of Israeli occupation for decades.

Please come along tonight to watch the world premiere of MEA CULPA by Palestinian director Patrick Tass, followed by q&a

THIS WEEKEND

Exciting announcement! We’ve teamed up with to curate an Alternative Edinburgh Film Fest as a reaction to the Edinburgh International Film Festival’s extremely limited Palestinian programming. We’re very eager to showcase Palestinian voices during the busiest time of the year for Edinburgh.

A two-days film fest: Friday, August 16th and Saturday, August 17th.

In the spirit of the original values of the Fringe, and other artistic showcasings that take place in Edinburgh throughout the month of August, we’ve chosen to programme exclusively the works of emerging Palestinian filmmakers.

On DAY 1: Migration in Focus (Shorts Programme) + Conversation with Director Razan Madhoon (in-person).

Join us on Friday, August 16th - for a shorts programme on the extremely important and incredibly relevant topic of migration: HIDE & SEEK, dir. .abbas.art followed by FREEDOM IS MINE, dir. and ending with GO HOME dir. . Razan will join us for an in-person conversation after the screening.

On DAY 2: Mea Culpa + Conversation with Director Patrick Tass (online).

Join us on Saturday, August 17th for the UK premier of ’s film MEA CULPA! Following the screening, we’ll be joined by the director himself, for an online conversation, moderated by our good friend and author .

Learn more and book your tickets through the eventbrite links in bio! Tickets are limited.
