KinderConcerts is an Edinburgh-based concerts series, which was set up in January 2012 by Iris Fleckenstein-Seifert and Anna Neubert-Wood, initially for a small circle of friends, in a private front room in New Town, Edinburgh. It has become very popular over the years and grown in numbers and interest from all over and outwith Edinburgh. KinderConcerts are designed as a gentle introduction to cla

ssical and traditional music for your child in a friendly environment, giving a taste of different instruments. KinderConcerts is a concert series designed for children aged 4-10 (younger siblings very welcome!). Your children might want to take up an instrument or a second instrument and would like to see different options in action, played by professional musicians, or you'd like to broaden your children's musical horizon? A typical KinderConcert is 30-45 minutes of performance (often with interactive games and songs) exploring the instrument, followed by a Q&A session with the musician. After the KinderConcert there is an opportunity to mingle, meet like-minded people and families, chat to the musician and - if possible - to try out the instruments. We also offer tea, coffee and biscuits in an informal setting. We operate on an invite/reservation only system, so we can keep numbers manageable and the atmosphere friendly and intimate. Reservation is essential. KinderConcerts run every other month on a Sunday afternoon at 3pm in Marchmont, Edinburgh. The address is 1 Chalmers Crescent, Edinburgh EH9 1TW. We do ask for a donation. Do get in touch if you'd like to be put on the mailing list: [email protected]

Huge thanks to Brigitte Harris, musical director and organist of St Andrew's and St George's West Church, who gave once again a very inspiring KinderConcert yesterday. We climbed the organ loft and discovered the wonderful Wells Kennedy organ with almost 1,400 pipes! A musical journey let us enjoy pieces by Buxtehude, Pachelbel, Bach, and Mendelssohn Bartholdy, as well as an African-American Spiritual played by talented pupil Katie Foster. Puppet Fiona enthusiastically asked many questions about this great instrument and we all learned a lot.
