Well, Porty… one last postcard. ❤️⚓️

Today, Sunday 11th October, is my last day trading at The Espy. After nearly 19 years at the helm, it’s time to head home to Australia and start my next chapter.

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of it—the staff, the regulars, the visitors and the friends made along the way. So many laughs, stories and memories to take with me.

Come down for a final drink and a blether. I’ll try to keep the tears out of your pint! 😄🍻

The Espy will reopen under new management, expected mid-November, with the date to be announced.

Wild weather of Porty! 🌊 From stormy seas to beautiful skies—never a dull moment on our wee seafront.

My last day trading at The Espy is Sunday 11th October, so pop in and raise a glass before I sail off! 🍻

The Espy will then have a short closure, with a new captain at the helm expected mid-November. ⚓️

And to answer the most-asked question at the bar… no, I don’t know who it’ll be either! 😄

Another wee Espy memory… LOCKDOWN 😷🛒

Remember when the pub stopped being a pub and somehow became the Espy Shop? 😂

Because apparently, when the world shut down, our answer was: f**k it, open a shop.

Looking back at this now feels absolutely surreal. We all just made it up as we went along — and somehow got through it. ❤️

🔥 ONE WEEK TO GO… SO LET’S HAVE A LITTLE RUMMAGE THROUGH THE ESPY ARCHIVES 😂

Apparently after 18+ years, I’m supposed to be getting all nostalgic and sentimental.

Instead, I found these. 😂

REMEMBER THE FIRE?! 🔥

A fire in the cellar, the electrics off, fire brigade everywhere and the usual amount of Espy chaos.

Meanwhile, our customers basically went “fair enough”, picked up their breakfasts and wandered down to the Prom to finish eating them. 😂

There were firefighters swinging bloody great axes around in the dark cellar trying to sort everything out… 🔥🪓 and somewhere amongst all of this was a poor girl doing a trial shift who couldn’t even bloody leave because her bag was still inside. 🤣

Welcome to hospitality, love.
Quite the induction.

And then there were our AUSTRALIA DAY SHENANIGANS 🇦🇺🍻 — always completely ridiculous and always a bloody great laugh.

And yes, Claire and Rohan, I’m looking at you. 😂❤️
Some of our loyal repeat offenders who could always be relied upon to embrace the nonsense.

Looking back through all these photos has reminded me just how much completely random s**t has happened inside these walls.

Fires. Floods. Fancy dress. Australia Days. Parties. Hangovers. Questionable outfits. And apparently occasionally serving breakfast during an evacuation. 😂

…because we’ve got some BANGING specials on while we attempt to DRINK THE BACK BAR DRY! 🍹🍻

We’re officially into our final couple of weeks.

So expect ridiculous food specials, £6 cocktails, 2 for £10 deals and whatever else we discover hiding in cupboards, fridges and the depths of the back bar.

It’s just the end of our 18+ year chapter here.
Amanda is hanging up her Espy hat and heading home to Australia — apparently to ride kangaroos and rescue koalas. 🇦🇺🦘🐨

After our final day on Sunday 11th October, The Espy will close its doors for a little makeover before reopening sometime in November under new management.
