Another week is here at Dalmeny Kirk Cafe! ☀️

It feels like this might be the last of the summer sunshine before we officially start celebrating Autumn — a favourite time of year at the cafe! 🍂

Why not enjoy a walk along to Dalmeny this week and pop in for a coffee and a scone? Or, if you’ve worked up more of an appetite, grab yourself a breakfast roll. 🥐☕

It’s also your last chance to enjoy our August drink of the month — Oat Chai Latte! 🫖 Next month’s drink will definitely have a much cosier vibe… 👀🍁

We’re open this week:

Tuesday: 10am–12pm
Thursday: 10am–1pm
Friday: 10am–12pm

We’d love to see you! 💛

🍎 Harvest time is coming! 🍏

It’s getting to that time of year when we start thinking about Harvest and stocking up for the colder months.

Do you have a glut of fruit or vegetables in your garden or allotment that you’re not sure what to do with? We’d be delighted to take them off your hands!

A kind person dropped off some lovely cooking apples the other day, which will be going into a crumble. I’m also thinking about making chutneys that could make lovely gifts wrapped up for Christmas, as well as healthy, warming soups using fresh veg — and, of course, plenty of crumbles, pies and puddings! 🍏🥕🥣

So, if you have anything you need to get rid of, please bring it along. Every little bit will be put to good use.

📍 Drop-off times this week:

Thursday: 10am–1pm
Friday: 10am–12 noon

Thank you to everyone who helps us make the most of the wonderful food growing in our community! 💚

☕ Coffee of the Month: Oat Chai Latte ☕

Our Coffee of the Month is an Oat Chai Latte – an absolute classic and perfect for the long August days!

Available from 10am tomorrow (Friday) at Dalmeny Kirk Café.

Pop along and enjoy one alongside some delicious home baking. Not a chai latte fan? No problem! We have plenty of other coffees to choose from, or, if we're lucky enough to see some sunshine, why not cool down with one of our iced versions?

We look forward to seeing you! 💛

It's a new month, which means it's almost time to reveal our new Coffee of the Month!

We'll be unveiling it later this week, and while it's not quite Pumpkin Spice Latte season yet, there's definitely a warm, gently spiced vibe to this month's special... 👀☕

Pop along on Thursday or Friday to be among the first to give it a try. We can't wait to hear what you think!

Today saw the start of the work to improve the path at Dalmeny Church Hall. A big well done to the workers who were out in the rain this morning while I stayed warm and dry in my office!

The work is expected to last for a couple of weeks. During this time, our front door may not always be accessible, but don't worry – just head round the side of the building and come in through the back door, where our friendly servers will be waiting with hot coffee and delicious home baking.

Please take extra care around the building while the work is ongoing. I even heard talk of a digger, so please keep a safe distance from the work area.

If you have any concerns about accessing the café during this time, please send me a wee message at [email protected].

Thank you for your patience while these improvements are carried out – we look forward to welcoming you in!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Gluten Free Cafés on Thursday and Friday last week. I honestly couldn't believe how busy we were!

It really highlighted just how many people living with coeliac disease or other conditions requiring a gluten-free diet are looking for safe, welcoming places to eat. As the parent of a child with coeliac disease, I completely understand how important that is, and we're already looking at running more events like this in the future.

We even had a few cakes and scones left over, which have been safely tucked away in the freezer, so if you pop into the café there is still a gluten-free option available.

Keep an eye on this page for details of our next Gluten Free Café. We'd also love to hear your ideas for other themed events too – perhaps a dairy-free day or something similar – so please do get in touch with your suggestions.

Thank you again to everyone who came along, to all of my wonderful volunteers, and most of all to my favourite coeliac in the whole world, who is the number one ambassador for this condition. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who came along to Day 1 of our Gluten Free Café today! I couldn't believe how busy we were – there isn't a scone or a roll left in the building!

Thank you all for your patience while we served everyone, and a special thank you to those who were happy to sit outside once we were full inside (thank goodness the sun was shining!).

Tomorrow is Day 2 of our Gluten Free Café, and we'll have an even bigger range of home baking, including freshly baked scones, cakes, and cupcakes. I hope lots of you will come along!

Even if you're not gluten free, please come anyway – you might just discover a new favourite treat!

A special mention goes to my wonderful volunteers, Emma and Sarah, for all their hard work today. And finally, a very special mention to my own Coeliac Hero, who not only inspired these events but inspires me every single day.

We can't wait to see you tomorrow!
