Did you know one of Greece’s most iconic coffees was born completely by accident? 🧋🇬🇷

In 1957, at the Thessaloniki International Fair, Dimitris Vakondios wanted his usual instant coffee but couldn’t find any hot water. So he improvised - adding cold water to instant coffee and shaking it in a mixer.

The result? A rich, frothy, ice-cold coffee that would go on to become a staple of Greek coffee culture 🇬🇷

And that’s the beauty of frappé: simple, refreshing and made to be enjoyed slowly.

So next time you order one, remember - you’re drinking a little piece of Greek history. 🤍

Come and enjoy yours at Mati today! ☕️🇬🇷

POV: you couldn’t decide between baklava and cheesecake 👀

So we made both.

Baklava baked cheesecake - creamy, crunchy, pistachio-loaded and honestly a bit ridiculous.

At Mati now, but not for long…🧿
