The Waterfront Restaurant & Conference Centre provides a real world working environment for our Hospitality and Catering students here at Doncaster College. Well that’s the end of 25/26 academic year and what a year it has been from packed dessert clubs and theme nights to our The Burnt Chef Project gala dinner to the many competitions we have done, we finish our year with our catering celebration event and awards for our students.

We would like to wish all our students the best for the future if your leaving us and if your returning in September we will see you then.

Well that’s the end of the 25/26 year of theme nights. What a night to finish on with our Tex Mex night.

Another great service from the L3 Larder students for there final theme night, They were assisted by a few L2 diploma and L2 Certificate students for prep and service as 5 of the group are currently in Italy on residential. Let not forget our excellent FOH student from serving the food and drinks, friendly greeting to exceptional expediting on the pass.

It’s been a great year with very high standards of cookery and service from the Chef’s and FOH students. We would like to wish all of our students leaving us the best of luck in there careers weather that be 5 star hotels, Michelin starred restaurants or even the local pub. But just remember you are the future of this hard but amazing industry keep pushing forward, learning and developing and put in the passion and love and it will reward you ten times over.

But always remember to keep in touch and we are always here if you need anything, advice or guidance.

But the biggest thank you goes to our customers, we couldn’t do what we do with our students if it wasn’t for your continued support. Please note we will be on summer break after next week and the booking will be closed till September. Next year we have some excellent theme nights and guest chef night lined up so hope to see you all there in 26/27.

VRQ Level 3 Patisserie and confectionary students 25-26, finished the last Dessert club of the academic year on a high, producing a "Day at the carnival" themed event for 53 guests to an excellent standard!
This theme took inspiration from Carnival events throughout the world, showing that the language of food has no barriers and the mix of cuisines created by diversity is what makes Hospitality so brilliant!

We hope that the standards, skills and discipline you have learnt with us at Doncaster college will be taken into the industry, but ultimately just being a nice person goes along way in this industry.

Huge congratulations to both Victoriia and Briany for competing in the Riso Gallo Young Risotto Chef of the Year Competition today at Leeds City College.
Both students worked incredibly hard in the lead up to the competition, putting in lots of preparation and practice to make sure they were ready for the challenge ahead. On the day, they showed fantastic resilience, composure and professionalism throughout, while also working in a clean, organised and tidy manner that really impressed the judges.
Victoriia achieved an incredible second place out of 16 competitors with her burrata, cherry tomato, almond, pancetta and spinach risotto, finished with spicy honey. Unfortunately, she narrowly missed out on the final, but she has secured a place in the wildcard draw, so fingers crossed she makes it through!
Briany also received excellent feedback from the judges for her sea trout, samphire and pea risotto, finished with a black coral tuile.
Both students did themselves and Doncaster College proud today. Their hard work, dedication and professionalism were clear to see from start to finish — a fantastic achievement all round. Well done to you both! Riso Gallo Young Risotto Chef
