The Baked Apple is closing on 9th October. Over the last three weeks we have been working to find a solution to an issue with the location of the toilet in relation to the kitchen. When the building was renovated the council granted planning permission for Category E usage which clearly had the location of both the kitchen and toilet detailed. No objection was made by environmental health at this time.
Fast forward to now and this has become a major issue which has led to the situation whereby we can spend a lot of time and money moving things around but this would put a lot of pressure on the business that we simply cannot afford to shoulder. It is such a shame that due to the negligence of the council and environmental health we have been put in this situation but we only have so much fight and this is a battle we are not equipped to face.
We still have the keys until the 30th November and all events up until then will be going ahead. We’ll also be hosting some special ‘‘goodbye for now’ supper clubs before then.
Thank you so much to our wonderful customers who have shown up for us time and time again. Had it not been for this, we’d have been here for years to come. The customers were there, we we there.
All of us have been failed here by a system that is unfit for purpose and shockingly inept.
Our last cafe days are: Wednesday 7th - Friday 9th October.
