Firstly, we would like to apologise if we haven’t been able to reply to all of the messages, comments, and calls we have received over the past few days.

The support has been absolutely overwhelming. We never expected so many people to reach out with such kind words, encouragement, and offers of help. We have been trying our best to read every message, and please know that every single one has meant the world to us.

In difficult times, the true character of a community shines through, and our community has been nothing short of incredible. The kindness, respect, and support shown by people from all backgrounds has reminded us how fortunate we are to serve such amazing customers and neighbours.

❤️ A Heartfelt Thank You From All of Us at Hot & Spicy ❤️

Following the events of the past few days, we wanted to take a moment to express our sincere gratitude to every single person who reached out to us.

The overwhelming support we have received has been truly humbling. From the hundreds of messages, comments, phone calls, and visits, to the countless offers of help and assistance, we have been deeply touched by the kindness shown to us and our family.

While the actions of a small minority caused upset and concern, the response from the wider community has reminded us what Craigavon and Northern Ireland are really about — kindness, respect, friendship, and looking out for one another.

We have heard from people of all backgrounds, cultures, and faiths, and many who had never even visited our shop before. The love and support shown has been incredible and has strengthened our belief that good people will always far outnumber those who seek to spread hatred and division.

For many years we have proudly served this community, and we are honoured to call it our home. We are grateful to be surrounded by such caring, supportive, and respectful people. Your messages have lifted our spirits and reminded us why we do what we do every day.

Absolute legend!!!!

This is Maitiu Mág Tighearnán, the man who ran straight into a terrifying knife attack to save a stranger's life. ❤️

And a fundraiser that was set up to buy him a pint has raised over £20,000 in 24 hours. Now, he has pledged to share the money with the victim. ❤️

Maitiu and a mate were out in North Belfast when they witnessed a man pinned to the ground in a brutal assault.

Instead of walking away, they sprinted directly towards the danger.

Armed with nothing but a hurly bat, they fought off the man with the knife to rescue Stephen Ogilvie. Witnesses say the pair did not think twice about the severe risk to their own lives.

To say thank you, local resident Niall Donnan set up a fundraiser just to buy the rescuers a well-deserved pint.

But within 24 hours, the community had rallied together to donate more than £20,000. 🙌

And now, Maitiu has confirmed he doesn't want to keep the money for himself. He plans to give a huge chunk of the funds directly to Stephen to help him recover.

As Niall put it: "Our community is absolutely amazing. I am in pure disbelief at how we have come together to support this man for his brave actions - running into a knife attack."

Hadi Alodid, 30, has been charged with the attempted murder of Stephen Ogilvie.

He has been remanded in custody at Belfast Magistrates' Court for four weeks.
