It’s Cheese Night tomorrow! We welcome those fine folks from Queso - Artisan Cheese who’ll be providing the best selection of cheese in any pub in the UK!

To further gild the lily, I’m going to open a bottle Graham’s Quinta Dos Malvedos 2008 Vintage Port, which will be available from 8pm for £6 for a 50ml serving. It should be showing plenty of maturity while still retaining good fruit. I’d expect notes of black cherry, blackberry, dried fig, dark chocolate, walnut, and that distinctive Graham’s minty/eucalyptus edge.

Apparently this port should continue to mature until 2059, but we reckon it’ll be gone by 20:15!!!

Unusually there are a couple of tables free - ring the pub on 024 7625 1717 to book.

We have a new champagne - from those fine folks at Dumenil. It’s a Blanc de Blanc - so Chardonnay based - and absolutely delicious. And it’s available by the glass! Perfect summer treat. Murphy would agree, if we could wake him up for five minutes….

We now have the Blaber’s Hall pink fizz by the glass on for the summer. It’s ‘traditional method’ - made the same way as champagne. It has a nice berry fruitiness to it, a little sweetness. Very nice indeed. Their winery is in Fillongley, so just down the road. Only £6 a glass - it’s a bargain - let’s support local suppliers!
