Nanny was a Maroon who escaped from Slavery, and then went on to to form her own Maroon community of enslaved women in the hills, She saved the lives of thousands of enslaved women ! What an inspirational Woman she was, for more information about this amazing story follow the link below which shows a fantastic exhibition by Karen where she explains the whole story.

As we move into spring, The Show Windows that we are delivering for the City of Culture Trust, are all about Women, as we celebrate International Women’s Day next week on 8th March.
The new windows celebrating this time are Katrina Adams in Waterstones, and Karen McClean in Kahawa Café (both of these windows are up and ready for viewing), and then next week you will see Kemmy in Metropolis Restaurant.
Do pop along and see them, and whilst you are there enjoy the three businesses’ hospitality. Why not try breakfast in Kahawa, a coffee break and choose a book in Waterstones, and then dinner in Metropolis?
