When the bride's birthday is the day after her wedding day, this is cause for another celebration and another cake:

In July I had the pleasure of making the wedding cake for the lovely couple Olivia & Neil who celebrated their special day with their family and friends. They choose a beautiful 3 tier cake, decorated with fresh flowers to match their wedding flowers:-

- each tier was 3 layers of sponge, filled with swiss meringue buttercream
- bottom tier was raspberry & white chocolate flavour
- middle & top tier was salted carmel flavour
- cake covering was swiss meringue buttercream decorated with white sugar pearls
- fresh flowers were provided by the wedding florist

Deciding on what type of cake design to do is hard, but i never realised making my own birthday cake would be so difficult.

Having started up Cakes By Joy, aproximately 6 years ago, there have been many a cake design go through the doors, but designing my own 50th birthday cake was definately a challange
- 4 layer sponge 1/2 vanilla and 1/2 chocolate flavour with jam and swiss merringue buttercrram filling
- smaller cake was a rich fruit cake
- cake coverings were fondant
- all decorations were handmade fondant.
