Who's ready for a cosy Journal Club with the wonderful Nuala of Nuala | journaling workshops tomorrow (aka Friday) evening?!

Journal Club will always be one of my personal favourite events. It offers the chance to slow down, be in community with other people and take the time to do something that I find it impossible to settle into at home.

Journaling can be anything you want it to be, it can be doodling, reflecting, flicking through magazines tearing out whatever calls to you in the moment.

It's that chance to let go of perfection and just let the page unfold before you.

Sound like something you need?

It's not too late to book your spot, it kicks off at 7pm, tickets can be bought online via Nuala's website (check all the usual places for the link) or you can pay on the night too.

Tickets are only Β£6 and Nuala comes laden with supplies, so all you need is yourself and a notebook.

The till will be open for drinks and treats as normal.

We'd love it if you could share this with someone that you know needs to make some time for themselves.

πŸ“ You'll find the Tea Bar on Bridge Street, Coleraine, opposite Sports Direct.

Our Neurodiversity Meet-Up runs on the second Wednesday of every month. It's for adults, whether you've got a diagnosis, you're waiting on one, or you're only starting to wonder. No formal diagnosis needed, ever and there are SO many reasons why we run it.

For all the advocacy work we do around being Neuro Spicy, it never once occurred to myself personally that I might actually be autistic myself. Turns out a lifetime of masking will do that.Β

So here's the thing, nothing about my life has actually changed since I made the realisation. But, something one of my late diagnosed friend's has taught me, and I keep coming back to it... Having the understanding of being on the spectrum lets you have a bit more grace with yourself. It's that permission to cut yourself some slack when you're struggling, instead of always wondering what's wrong.

Things like this are why the night exists.Β

It started with the Coffee Meet-Ups we ran with Causeway Neurodiversity and when the charity wrapped up we knew adults still needed somewhere safe to land.

It's a chance to connect with other people on the spectrum, talk through your own experiences, or just put the world to rights for a couple of hours.

You can come with a friend, with a safe person (they don't need to be neurodivergent, whatever helps), or entirely on your own. And yses, sometimes there's still that wee bit of awkwardness that comes with meeting new people, but you're with people who get it. Zero judgement, zero pressure. Be as brave as you fancy or take it as slow as you like.

The nights keep getting busier, which to us just proves how needed they are.

So, if you've had your own OH moment, been diagnosed for years, had a late diagnosis or none at all, we'd love to hear more about it.

Get the date in the diary and go ahead and tag the person you already know should be coming along with you.

This Wednesday the 9th, 7pm to about 9ish. It's for adults only, it's free to attend with no booking necessary. You just rock up.

It might be the end of August, but we will run our Summer Drinks for one more week.

So this is your cue to get in before they disappear.

We've been so pleased how this batch of Signature Drinks have landed with you all, there's really been something for everyone.

Even the Siciliano that we knew would be our 'marmite' type drink has some real die hard fans. And I also love to see how well the Hojicha specials go down.

This weekend Duncan is holding down the fort at the Tea Bar.

Áine is for Electric Picnic to support Cass who many of you will know from our Open Mic Poetry Nights. Cass has been invited to perform a poetry set during the festival and we are immensely proud of her!

If you're about over the next few days, pop in to see Duncan to show your love and help keep him sane πŸ˜…

We do ask for your patience if things do prove a little chaotic, we have staffed up but sometimes you just never know how things will go.Β

AND if you have any music recommendations or must see bands for EP let us know!

Bann in a Bubble is always a crowd favourite at the Tea Bar.

It's made with chewy tapioca pearls, it's a wonderful violet flavour, the blue comes from blue butterfly pea flower that's sometimes called blue matcha and we love how much yis are here for it!!!

We first launched it in the old Tea Bar and have been bringing it back every year since.

Have you ever tried it? Tag your bestie who needs to give it a go 😁

This one means a lot to us, more than we probably say out loud most of the time.

It wasn't planned this way, but the majority of our staff turned out to be neurodivergent in some form. Duncan reckons he's probably AuDHD. And Áine, we used to joke her "quirks" were just trauma, turns out that's probably not the whole story either.

So when we say we get it, we mean it.

Swipe through for five reasons this night exists, and maybe why it's for you too. We'd also love it if you could add your own reasons why you think it's important in the comments.

Neurodiversity Meet-up, Wednesday 12th, 7pm to 9ish. Adults only, no diagnosis needed, no need to book, free to attend.

We'll see you in our wee safe space soon πŸ’š tag your favourite neuro spicy person that needs to join you at the Tea Bar for this!!!

This is your cue to get those dates in your diary πŸ—“οΈ We've scaled things back a little over the summer, but the four nights we've held onto are honestly some of our favourites.

Wed 12th: Neurodiversity Meet-up. Come along to catch up with friends or meet some new neurospicy faces. It's a gentle, low-key one, adults only evening. There's no need to book, you just rock up.

Sat 15th: Open Mic Poetry Night, Cass would love you to bring along a poem that inspires you, and any of your own you fancy reading too. You can sign-up to read on the night, but there's no pressure at all if you'd rather just settle in and listen.

Thurs 20th: Silent Book Club. No set book, bring whatever you're into: a book, a comic, a magazine. Find a comfy corner and read. Just rock up, this one proves popular too.

Sat 22nd: Board Game Night, 7 til 10ish. We've got a shelf of games ready, or you can bring your own. Just come along on your own, or with friends. There's always some good games on the go.

Every one of these events are free to attend, every one starts at 7pm and every one with the till open for drinks and treats to order as you wish.
