Can’t knit? No problem! You can still be part of this powerful community display.
🧶 Donate a ball of red wool
🧵 Join a local group and learn to knit or crochet
❤️ Help create poppies that will be displayed across Chelmsford City Centre landmarks
This project will raise funds and awareness for the Royal British Legion while bringing our community together to honour Remembrance.
Whether you make one poppy or one hundred, every stitch counts.

Yesterday we had a wonderful and inspiring afternoon gathering reflecting on the past and present heroines who have shaped our communities.
It was a privilege to be in a room with so many powerful and inspiring women, including Marie Goldman, the Mayor of Chelmsford, Claire Gevaux, CEO of Culture Chelmsford, Lubna Samud, Edith Miller, CEO of Ideas Hub in Chelmsford, Phoebe Gee, and Fiona Henderson from Essex Police. Their leadership, dedication, and commitment to the community were truly inspiring.
We were also proud to hear from local young girls and boys who spoke with confidence and passion. Seeing the next generation sharing their voices and ideas was incredibly uplifting.
Together, we spoke about the changes we hope to see in 2026 and how we can continue supporting and inspiring one another to build a stronger and more inclusive future.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone working behind the scenes who made yesterday’s gathering possible. Your effort, organisation, and dedication created such a meaningful and memorable event.

☀️ What a fantastic Saturday with Bubu’s Community Hub! ☀️
We had such a wonderful time this past Saturday , the sun was shining, the children were full of energy, and our community came together in the best way. 💛

A huge thank you to CA4P – Chelmsford Action for Palestine for having us and creating such a welcoming space, and to Essex ActivAte for your amazing support in making the event such a success.

The children absolutely loved all the activities , especially the fun sessions with Coach Ola and Mikey, who brought so much energy and joy! 😄 Everyone got stuck into the challenge and definitely burned off some energy!

There was a great spread of (mostly!) healthy food and snacks, lots of laughter, and an uplifting sense of connection throughout the day.

At Bubu’s Community Hub, inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do , and every time we see people of all ages and backgrounds come together like this, we’re reminded that we’re making a difference.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday , let’s keep building this beautiful, strong, and inclusive community together.

We’re proud to be a partner in Concrete Canvas: Reimagined — a vibrant street art and community project coming to Chelmsford in 2025–2026, led by the amazing team at Spark! as part of the Young Cultural Changemakers Programme.

This bold, creative project will see local communities and artists working together to transform spaces across the city with murals, workshops, events, and shared stories — all sparking powerful conversations about identity, culture, and change.

At Bubus, we’re all about creativity, connection, and care for our community — so we’re thrilled to be a local hub for inspiration, collaboration, and colour throughout the journey!

Alhumdullilah, This is where it all began for us. Back then, we didn’t realise just how much representation was missing ,but looking at the next generation now, we’re incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made and the future we’re building.

We’re truly grateful to Chelmsford CVS and Culture Chelmsford for playing such a pivotal role in our journey. Your support and belief have helped us grow in ways we couldn’t have imagined.

And to the man in this photo ,my husband, the father of my beautiful children — thank you. You’ve stood by me with strength, love, and unwavering support. You’ve carried me through the hardest moments and believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. I’m forever grateful, and I couldn’t have done this without you. Feeling super blessed 😇.

We're delighted to share updates on our recent Trustee Recruitment and our Board's visit to Bubus Cafe, one of the many vibrant community hubs within our district.

Following the range of inclusive opportunities we launched in February and the interviews held in April, we are pleased to confirm that we have now appointed three new Trustees and look forward to introducing them shortly.

We thoroughly enjoyed hosting our recent Board meeting at Bubu's Café in the Hamptons, Great Baddow, especially as we were able to hear about how it all began from co-founder Richard Cohen. Plus, we enjoyed plenty of inspiring space and refreshments to facilitate our discussion groups.

We look forward to visiting more community hubs across the district with our new Trustees throughout the year and sharing our experiences with you.

If you missed the opportunity to apply or wish to re-apply, we will be launching a second recruitment round to join our Board in the near future.

We had an absolute blast next you Kids Inspire and to you all at Volfest ,rain or shine, the vibes were amazing! 🌧️💃 Thanks for being such fab neighbours (and brave hula challengers 😉).

We love the worry monster , our vote is for a name like “Snuggles” or “Pickles” 🧶💚 Can’t wait to see what name it ends up with!
