We’re so proud of our niece Ayesha (13) who’s been selected for a youth volunteering trip to Kenya in 2028.

She’s working hard to raise £5,000, and every share or donation makes a huge difference.

We will be sharing details of upcoming fundraising events, with everything from bingo, quizzes, yard sales and coffee mornings.
We would LOVE any donations for raffle prizes if possible as well, just drop them in to The OB.

Its Sunday morning!
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

Here at The OB, Tina is setting up, ready for the Christmas Lights Volunteers, to serve their elevenses.

Teas, coffees and of course, pasties!

We will continue to support them through their Festive set-up on Saturdays and Sundays, even after we close the Tea Room at the end of this month, by opening up just for them!

Our second funeral this week.
This one was for 50 people and included some special dietary requirements.
This means extra care is taken to keep everything separate and all prep areas clean in between to prevent any potential cross contamination.

A very successful day, today for us at The Old Bakery.
A funeral function at the new Lakeview Bereavement Centre, Mepal.

We catered for 50 people and took care of everything for the family, from setting up the room, serving teas and coffees and clearing everything away afterwards.

We take pride in offering the best service in both our customer care and food quality. Everything is freshly homemade at The Old Bakery.

A difficult decision, and a new chapter for The Old Bakery ❤️

After 21 years of running The Old Bakery Tea Room, I’ve made the difficult decision to bring our day-to-day tea room service to an end at the end of October.

Over those two decades, we’ve been through so much together — family bereavements, COVID lockdowns, recessions and, more recently, the challenges of the cost-of-living crisis.

Through all of it, your support, kindness and loyalty have kept this little tea room going. I honestly cannot thank you enough for that.

I also want to make a special mention of Amber, who has been such an important part of The Old Bakery over the years. From starting with me as an apprentice back in 2016, to returning to the Bakery after my mum passed away, she has been part of so many chapters of this place. I’m incredibly grateful for the time, memories and hard work she has shared with me over the years. ❤️

The tea room may be closing its doors, but The Old Bakery itself isn’t going away. Outside catering will continue to be a definite part of the future, and I’m looking forward to exploring what this next chapter might look like.

This isn’t goodbye — it’s simply a change in how The Old Bakery will run.

There are still a few weeks left to enjoy the tea room, and I very much hope you’ll come and see us before we close at the end of October.

Thank you for being part of our journey over the past 21 years. For the coffees, cakes, lunches, celebrations, catch-ups, conversations and countless memories — thank you.

It has been an absolute privilege. ❤️
