Open since 14/06/2005 this little place has become popular with locals & visitors to the town. Situated on the corner of Market Hill & Church Lane it occupies the premises formally owned by the Laws family bakery- hence the origins of the name. Operating 5 days a week (closed Sunday & Monday) the menus cater for all tastes. Family-run Tea-Room & Restaurant. Morning coffee, Freshly made sandwiches

& baguettes, Selection of home-made cakes. Lunch menu: served 12-2,
Outside catering menus for all occasions. Community minded.

🎉 Today marks 21 years since we first opened our doors at The Old Bakery!
🎉Back on 14th June 2005, we switched on the lights, put the kettle on, and welcomed our very first customers.
Since then, everyday life has changed in ways we never could have imagined.

🌍 In the 21 years we’ve been here…
Contactless payments became normal
Streaming replaced DVDs
Smartphones replaced cameras
Online shopping became part of dailylife
Air fryers took over everyone’s kitchens
Electric cars went from rare to everyday
QR codes made a comeback

👑 We watched two royal weddings:
William & Kate in 2011
Harry & Meghan in 2018
🇬🇧 We also saw the end of an era, as we said goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II and welcomed a new monarch, King Charles III — a moment of history none of us will forget.

⚽ We cheered England on through unforgettable moments:
The men reaching the Euros final in 2021The Lionesses winning the Euros in 2022

📱 Technology moved faster than ever:
The first iPhone arrived
Social media exploded
AI became part of everyday life

😷 And of course, we lived through COVID together — a time that showed just how strong and supportive our community really is.

Through all of that, one thing has stayed the same:
Our little Tea Room has been a place for people to meet, chat, laugh, and feel part of something.

💛 21 years of tea, cake, community, and memories.
We’ve seen friendships form, families grow, and so many moments shared around our tables.

🕊️ And along the way, we’ve said goodbye to some very special people — customers, friends, and loved ones who were part of our story. They’re still part of our memories here, and always will be.. 💔

After lots of lovely feedback, we're going to give it a go!

Starting on Wednesday 24th June at 2pm, we'll be hosting our very first Toast & Jam afternoon.
Bring an instrument, bring a song, bring a friend – or simply come along for a cuppa and enjoy the music.

This isn't a performance or an open mic. It's a relaxed, informal get-together where anyone can join in, sing along, play a tune, or just listen and enjoy the atmosphere.

All abilities welcome.
No pressure, no expectations – just good company, music, and of course, toast and jam.

We’re thinking about trying something new on Wednesday afternoons at The Old Bakery…
Toast & Jam 🎵

A relaxed, bring‑an‑instrument get‑together where anyone can join in, play a tune, or just enjoy the atmosphere.
No pressure, no performances — just a friendly mid‑week jam session with good company (and yes… toast and jam).
We’re sounding out the idea at the moment, so if it’s something you’d enjoy — playing or listening — let us know.
Could be a lovely little Wednesday tradition.

A cooler, rainy Wednesday here at The Old Bakery — perfect weather for something warm.

Our cooker is back up and running (well done Amber Davies), so I’m in the kitchen this morning making a fresh batch of soup and getting everything ready for the day.
We’re open as usual if you fancy a hot drink, lunch, or a cosy spot out of the rain.

A new week and a new month at The Old Bakery — and we’re starting it with a fresh lunch menu and some much cooler weather at last.

As some of you already know, our cooker gave up on us on Saturday, and we’re still waiting on the repair.
We’re working around it as best we can, and we still have plenty on offer if you’re popping in for a drink, a bite, or a quiet moment out of the breeze.

Thanks for bearing with us — we’ll keep you posted as soon as it’s fixed.

A new week and a scorcher of a Tuesday here in Chatteris.

If you’re out and about in the heat, we’ve got cool drinks, iced coffees, and plenty of shade inside to help you escape the sunshine for a bit.

A gentle start to Wednesday here at The Old Bakery.

Today would have been my mum’s birthday — she was part of this place from the very beginning, and a lot of the warmth people feel when they walk in is because of her.

We’re open as usual from 11:30-3:30 with cakes, warm drinks, lunches and a cosy spot if you need a quiet moment in the middle of the week.

Here’s to the people who shaped us, and to a calm Wednesday ahead.
