NEW RELEASE
FIELD TRIP | KILIMBI, RWANDA.
A firm favourite returning coffee from last year.
We’re always drawn to producers and communities shaping the future of coffee with both innovation and care and Kilimbi Washing Station is exactly that.
Located along the shores of Lake Kivu in Rwanda’s Nyamasheke District, Kilimbi was the first washing station established by Muraho Trading Company, founded by two brothers committed to showcasing the quality and potential of Rwandan coffee while investing directly into the farming communities around them. This lot is produced by smallholder farmers growing Red Bourbon at elevations between 1600–1650 MASL. Some producers even deliver their cherries to the station by boat across Lake Kivu, making Kilimbi one of the few washing stations in Rwanda with this unique connection to the landscape.
Processed as a honey lot, the coffee undergoes careful sorting and controlled drying to preserve clarity, sweetness and structure in the cup. Kilimbi has also played an important role in Rwanda’s specialty coffee movement, helping pioneer the country’s natural and honey processed coffees for export. It is also a returning coffee in our selection and was a firm favourite last year, so we’re excited to have it back!
This release sits within our FIELD TRIP pillar. Coffees that tell a story of place, community and craft.
Expect bright citrus acidity, delicate floral notes and layered stone fruit sweetness, all carried by a clean, tea-like body. A beautifully expressive Rwanda that shines through filter brewing.
