We're sorry to say that we won't be at Lancaster Charter Market tomorrow (Saturday 24th October) due to prior commitments. But the farm shop is fully stocked and open 7am-7pm, so feel free to come and see us! Otherwise we will be back at the market next Saturday 31st October. Thanks everyone

The farm shop has had a restock!

Our new-recipe grilling cheese is back in the fridge this week, alongside our raw double cream. We've also restocked the freezer with our popular whey-fed pork sausages.

Raw double cream - thick and luxurious.

Whey-fed pork sausages, also available with Cumberland seasoning.

Rosie, having a scratch after milking. She's one of the first Dairy Shorthorns we bought, now due her seventh calf in the spring. Photos 2-4 when she came as a heifer milking in the shippon and then the bail.

We were on Prue Leiths Cotswold Kitchen this weekend, talking about how the The Courtyard Dairy has helped, guided and encouraged our journey into cheese making.

These are some of the cows to calve this autumn and winter. We've got just under half the herd calving over the autumn/winter this year to help keep the raw milk flowing all year round.

I put this pipeline parlour in the spring, it's a very simple system originally from the 1970s.

It allows me to milk the cows much quicker than in the bail and puts the milk directly into the bulk tank or cheese vat.

This is the latest modification to it, adding extra gates to stand and milk 6 cows at a time. There are more changes to be made this autumn with a new bulk tank going in and moving the dairy into a bigger space.
