A Message to Our Honeybee House Community
πππππππππππ
Dear friends and neighbours,
It breaks our hearts to say this, but weβve had to close early today.
Honeybee House has been part of the fabric of Llanishen Village for so many years β a place where people meet, celebrate, recover, reconnect, cry, laugh, and feel held. Weβve always believed that small independents arenβt just businesses; weβre part of the villageβs heartbeat.
Which is why tonight hurts.
For the third year running, weβve been excluded from taking part in the village event, despite explaining in writing last year how vital communication and inclusion are for small local businesses like ours. We had hoped that message would be heard by the organisers. It wasnβt and the focus has continued to be on self promotion disguised as community engagement.
To make things harder, the road was closed several hours earlier than advertised, which meant we lost much of our afternoon trade and had no safe or practical way to remain open. Handmade bakes, staff hours, and thoughtful preparation were simply lost.
As a tiny, family-run tearoom still finding its feet after the financial impact and challenges of the post-Covid years, this kind of unexpected disruption and inconsideration really affects us. We donβt have corporate buffers, multiple sites or big budgets β we have a mother-daughter bond, hard work, love, and a community we care for deeply. Unlike others, we are resident in the village and you are our neighbours as well as our customers.
Weβre devastated not to be part of this eveningβs festivities yet again and to have had to leave early. It has taken a financial toll and also affected our fellow small business neighbours.
We wanted to be there with you β we always do. So we have left our Christmas tree lights on in the window to hopefully shine some warmth out despite the weather. We hope you have a nice night and hope you wrap up warm!
Thank you for continuing to support Honeybee House, for choosing local, and for reminding us that the heart of a village is its people β not its posters or advertising.
Weβll be back as usual tomorrow, with open arms, warm tea, and something freshly baked.
With all our love,
Honeybee House Tearooms
