Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day.
It is a day to remember the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered during the Holocaust, as well as the millions of others who were persecuted and killed by the N**i regime and its collaborators. It is a time for reflection, remembrance, and a renewed commitment to challenge antisemitism, hatred and genocide in all their forms.
For Steven and his family, today is particularly poignant. So many members of his family were lost in the Holocaust. They are not abstract figures from history, but loved ones whose lives were cruelly cut short.
They are remembered and honoured in Steven’s book, From the Anschluss to the Arcades, which preserves his family’s story with care, dignity and humanity.
Today, we remember them — and we remember why remembering matters.
