💔 Our Last Day at Castell Coch 💔

Today marks the end of a really special chapter for us - it’s our last day running Lew’s Coffee Shop at Castell Coch.

After 3 incredible years, we’re so grateful to have worked in such a magical place, meeting amazing people from all over the world. From locals on daily walks to curious visitors discovering the castle for the first time - thank you. You've made it unforgettable.

Running a small business in these times isn’t always easy, but Lew’s Coffee Shop is, and always will be, about community - and that’s where our hearts are leading us next.

We’ll miss the view, the castle, and the magic — but most of all, we’ll miss you.

💔 A Fond Farewell from Castell Coch 💔

It’s with heavy hearts that we share some big news — this Sunday will be our last day running Lew’s Coffee Shop at Castell Coch.

After 3 amazing years, the time has come for us to say goodbye to this magical, iconic location. It’s been a privilege to serve you in such a beautiful setting, and we’ve met so many lovely people along the way – visitors from around the world, locals on walks, families, cyclists, castle staff... it’s been truly special.

That said, running a small business in this climate isn’t without its challenges. As many of you know, Lew’s Coffee Shop has always stood for “community at heart”, and as our sites at Llandaff North & Gabalfa Hub and
Caerau & Ely Hub have grown, so has our commitment to the communities we serve.

We’re really proud of the work we’re doing there – and don’t worry, you don’t need a café pass to get in! 😄

To everyone who visited us at the castle, supported us, and shared kind words – thank you. We’ll always be grateful for the memories and the opportunity to be part of such a special place.

We wish CADW and Castell Coch the very best as they find someone new to take the reins – but please note, the café will be closed from this Sunday until a new operator is found.

Let's leek the celebrations begin! Today, all Cadw sites are open for free, making it the perfect occasion to explore Welsh heritage. While we've heard that time slots for Castell Coch are fully booked, it's a lovely day to take a chance and visit; you might just daffo-dilly-dally your way in! If fortune favours you, we'll be ready with homemade Welsh rarebit, traditional bara brith, hearty lamb cawl, and, of course, delightful Welsh cakes. Please note, starting today, Castell Coch's extended hours are from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Can't make it to Castell Coch? No worries! Join us in Llandaff North today, where we're serving all these Welsh delicacies from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. It's going to be a dragon of a day, and we can't wait to celebrate with you!

Castell Coch is getting ready for St David's Day.

I had a walk around the castle at lunchtime using my Cadw Monument Pass - https://cadw.gov.wales/visit/places-to-visit/admissions/cadw-monument-pass.

I bumped into Simon, one of our Community Councillors and Cadw volunteer, as I explored the dining room.

So that's us closed for a little bit. Castell Coch now undergoes a big ol' deep clean ready for the 2025 season and so we take a break alongside it. A massive thanks to everyone who visited in 2024, see you on the 1st Feb x
