Ross’ newest project brings together rising drum talent Alex Goodyear and acclaimed double bassist Nick Kacal for an electrifying exploration of Cuba’s rich musical heritage, infused with the energy of fusion and Latin jazz. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Buena Vista Social Club, Alfredo Rodriguez, and Harold López-Nussa, the trio delivers vibrant rhythms, infectious grooves, and fiery improvisation that transport audiences straight to Havana.

Their debut performance at Kings Road Yard played to a sold-out crowd, with audiences singing, dancing, and fully immersed in the spirit of the music from start to finish. Combining virtuosic musicianship with an irresistible live energy, the group offers a fresh and exciting celebration of Latin jazz traditions with a modern twist.

Dan Messore is an eclectic British jazz guitarist, composer, and bandleader known for his lyrical, narrative-driven style that frequently blends contemporary jazz with folk, world, and ambient influences.

Fresh off the back of recording a brand-new album of Messore’s original compositions, the quartet brings this vibrant new material to Palladinos. Spanning a broad musical spectrum, the set is steeped in vivid storytelling—evoking sweeping, panoramic landscapes and a poignant, wistful depth. From refined takes on jazz traditions to expansive cinematic themes, the music provides a sophisticated backdrop of world-class jazz that invites you to listen closely or simply sink into the vibe.

The Lineup
Iain Ballamy (Saxophones): An internationally acclaimed saxophonist and composer, Ballamy is a distinctive voice in contemporary jazz, celebrated for his rich tone, melodic invention, and expressive improvisation.
Dan Messore (Guitar): An eclectic British jazz guitarist, composer, and bandleader known for his lyrical, narrative-driven style that frequently blends contemporary jazz with folk, world, and ambient influences.
Jake Newman (Bass): The subtle engine of the group, Jake’s playing is defined by a deep, acoustic resonance and a steady, effortless swing that anchors the room.
Gethin Jones (Drums): A master of the “light touch,” Gethin excels at dynamic brushwork and crisp, melodic percussion that keeps the energy moving without ever overpowering.

As the Jazz world approaches the 100th anniversary of John Coltrane’s birth, saxophonist Craig Crofton brings a powerful and deeply personal tribute to Palladino’s Jazz & Blues Bar celebrating the life, music, and enduring legacy of one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century.

Following a series of acclaimed performances, Crofton continues his exploration of Coltrane’s extraordinary catalogue — from the driving energy of his early work to the spiritual depth and transcendence of his later recordings. This special centenary performance honours not only the music, but the philosophy behind it: Coltrane’s lifelong search for truth, unity, and higher expression through sound.

One of the UK's most exciting contemporary jazz-funk outfits comes to Cardiff this September as James Morton Groove Den brings its explosive blend of jazz, funk, soul, hip-hop and rock to Palladino's.

Led by acclaimed saxophonist James Morton, Groove Den is a powerhouse collective renowned for its deep grooves, soulful melodies, blistering solos and infectious energy. Morton has performed and recorded with an impressive list of artists including P*e Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley, George Clinton, Kasabian, Pendulum and the New Power Generation horns.

On guitar, Alex Hutchings has been captivating international audiences with his distinctive, heartfelt playing and technical brilliance for over a decade.

The group's lineup is rounded out by powerhouse drummer Francesco Medolia, the rhythmic backbone of funk supergroup Incognito, and Swedish funk and soul maestro Anders Olinder on Hammond Organ, known for his work with Glen Hughes and P*e Wee Ellis.
