If you make your way across to Eddington Square, La Pizzica delivers a genuine slice of Southern Italy right here in Cambridge.
Run by husband-and-wife team Marco and Autumn Valente, this family-run spot is built on authentic Calabrian roots and proper hospitality. They keep things traditional in the kitchen, using a dough recipe that dates back over 150 years - and the bases are cooked to absolute perfection.
What We Tried
Capricciosa: San Marzano tomatoes, fiordilatte, mushrooms, cooked ham, artichokes, and black olives. The thin base had a crisp outer edge, and the balance of ingredients was spot on.
La Pizzica: The star of the show. Loaded with Spianata Piccante, N’duja di Spilinga, and crushed dried peppers. Rich, fiery, and packed a serious hit of warmth without blowing your head off.
Coffee & Dessert: Sourced locally from Velvet Award-winning Change Coffee Rosters in Fen Drayton, followed by a local pistachio tiramisu in a jar. Creamy, rich, and a proper treat to sign off the meal.
My dining guest is a proper Italian food purist who usually finds fault with every spot in town, but he couldn't fault a single thing here. Every ingredient is well-sourced, distinct, and balanced.
This is unpretentious, high-value, top-tier pizza that is going straight into the top tier of my ongoing Cambridge Pizza League Table!
