The Crown & Punchbowl is a quaint country pub, restaurant and inn nestled amongst farmhouses in the village of Horningsea, just 3 miles from the centre of Cambridge. Horningsea has the best of both worlds - it is idyllic and rural whilst being well connected to the Cambridge Science and Business Parks, just a 5 minute drive away via the A14. This Grade II listed building was originally an old coaching inn constructed in the 17th century. It has been extended periodically but retains many of its traditional features including brick fireplaces and original timber beams. The pub serves local real ales straight from the cask whilst the restaurant offers seasonal modern British food in relaxed surroundings. There are delightful guest rooms available.

Why not make a day of it and visit Anglesey Abbey, just a 13-minute drive from our gastro pub? 🌿

Tucked away in the Cambridgeshire countryside, it’s a beautiful country estate with grand gardens, peaceful woodland walks and plenty of history to discover.

At this time of year, the famous Dahlia Garden is in full late-summer/early-autumn display, with around 60 varieties to admire.

And if you’re looking for something to do this weekend, the Autumn Planting Fair is taking place on 3rd–4th October, with the new Three Cheers for Pooh! garden trail also starting from 3rd October. 🍂

Then, once you’ve had your fill of exploring, why not make the short drive over to us for a lovely lunch — or simply a well-deserved drink? 🌲
