🍕 Exciting changes to the way we operate 🍕

Over the past 2 years we’ve tried lots of different ways of running our business; regular mobile locations, pop ups, markets, food festivals, corporate events, private parties, weddings and big festivals. We’ve also experimented with different products through our DIY range to understand what works best and how we can continue offering great products at affordable prices.

To help us remain a sustainable business for years to come, we’re making a few changes:

1️⃣ Our Garlic Pizza Bread is increasing in size from 7” to 12” to match the rest of our DIY range. This will help speed up production and improve dough efficiency 🫶🏻

2️⃣ From this week, we’ll be open for hot food collection from outside of our unit every Wednesday and Thursday, 11:30am-2:30pm. We’re already there making DIY orders, so this lets us offer those cheeky lunchtime treats without additional overheads.

3️⃣ From 1st June, we’ll be stopping all regular roadside trading locations and focusing instead on food festivals and larger weekend events. All our events will be walk-up only moving forward

This hasn’t been an easy decision, but roadside trading is no longer financially viable for us. Footfall has steadily declined over the last 6-8 months, and other traders with similar businesses are seeing the same thing. At our last roadside event we took just £6.50 😩

We’ve tried WhatsApp channels, Facebook posts, local groups, email newsletters and sponsored social media posts, but we completely understand that things are tough right now and a midweek takeaway isn’t always a priority.

Roadside trading also requires a huge amount of admin, preparation, staffing and coordination behind the scenes alongside our DIY orders. For now, we’re choosing to focus our time and energy where it works best and reassess things further down the line.

You can still come and see us though! We have 6 amazing events over the next few weeks and can’t wait to see some of you there 🫶🏻🍕

We’ve had a couple of messages asking where we are this weekend - so sorry we’re not out and about anywhere - we are having a weekend off after Radio One Big Weekend and last night spent a very enjoyable day / evening at Trance in the Woods on the other side of the fences! I had some amazing gluten free food from and would definitely recommend if you see them catering a festival. I tried the lamb and chicken and it was delicious, really tender and happy to confirm I wasn’t glutened 🙌🏼 Hope everyone’s had a great weekend

A lot of you who’ve followed our journey for a while, right back to the garden pop-up days, will know this has always been my dream, not Lauren’s. But that’s never stopped her backing me completely, and somehow she’s become one of the biggest reasons any of this actually works.

Whether it’s encouraging me when things get overwhelming, bringing energy when I’m running low, or sacrificing evenings, weekends and basically any chance of peace and quiet to help at events, behind the scenes or with endless admin… she’s been there through every stage of this journey. All while juggling a full-time, stressful job of her own and being an incredible mum to our little boy.

Hospitality definitely isn’t her background. Honestly, I’m not sure she ever wanted to learn half the things she now knows 😂 She still screams when bacon fat spits and refuses to touch anything remotely hot without an oven glove, but she throws herself into it anyway because that’s just the kind of person she is.

And honestly, without someone beside me with that attitude, I don’t think we’d have achieved half of what we have.

It definitely hasn’t always been easy either. After last year’s Big Weekend she said — and I quote — “I am NEVER working another festival again.”

Fair enough really, considering she went straight back to work the next morning looking like she’d survived a minor natural disaster.

So the fact she came back again this year is heroic behaviour. Even if the original motivation may have involved seeing MK 😂

Truthfully, I don’t know what I’d have done without her this weekend. Her energy, infectious smile, encouragement and ability to laugh through chaos made such a huge difference.

And judging by the comments and messages, it seems like you all loved having her around too!

So this is just a little appreciation post for my Chief Morale Officer, unpaid festival survivor, part-time therapist and full-time legend.
