The Gunroom Restaurant at Plas Dinas Country House is a multi-award-winning restaurant in Caernarfon, North Wales. restaurant is headed up by Head Chef and TV personality Daniel ap Geraint, a finalist on Great British Menu 2025. Plas Dinas Country House is the former home of Lord Snowdon, husband of HRH Princess Margaret. It was awarded AA Restaurant with Rooms of the Year in Wales 2025 and held a Times Top 100 Places To Stay 2025. The monthly changing menu uses only the freshest seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Distinct choices of starter, main and dessert are interspersed with delicious chef choice courses creating a unique dining experience that balances sumptuous indulgence with individual variety. Dinner at the Gunroom Restaurant is served daily between the months of April & October and Monday to Saturday from November to March. We kindly ask that you arrive half an hour before so you can enjoy a pre-dinner drink and canapés in either the beautiful Drawing Room. Our Quintessentially British Afternoon Tea is served Tuesday - Sunday in various settings throughout the house with a choice of unique tea blends, delicious homemade cakes and dainty savouries. You will feel relaxed yet indulged from the moment you walk in.

Just a short drive from our beautiful restaurant is the breathtaking Eryri/
Snowdonia mountain range. You will find one of the many routes up Yr Wyddfa/ Snowdon, including the located in Llanberis, which is just 20 minutes away by car. We recommend using the sherpa buses and park and ride facilities that are implemented to support the enjoyment of the mountains.

We would like to wish Kane a very happy birthday from all of the team.

Kane is a remarkably talented chef and has worked in some of the most highly regarded MICHELIN starred restaurants in the country such as the Ledbury, Hand and Flower and Moor Hall with Mark Birchall as Senior Sous. He then went on to hold the position of Head Chef at The Barn at Moor Hall for two years, gaining a MICHELIN star, before returning to Wales with his beautiful family and joining us here at The Gunroom Restaurant in 2025.

Here at The Gunroom Restaurant, attention to detail is of great importance, as is the exceptional flavour that Daniel Ap Geraint and his team of chefs create. Each ingredient, each mouthful, each hidden course is carefully considered, providing a hybrid 9-course taster menu, unique fine dining experience here in North Wales.

Well what a week! Goodness we have welcomed so many fabulous guests from across the globe and it was such a joy to share our beautiful country house with you all. Yesterday we finished the month of May with a beautiful, intimate food focused wedding celebration for Stephanie and John. It was such a pleasure to work with them both.

It is however time to welcome our June menu! It is all change in the kitchen once again as we welcome this delicious collection of dishes to the estate. Head Chef Daniel ap Geraint has been working his magic on our absolutely delicious monthly changing menu alongside his team of ambitious chefs.

Our team are busy preparing for another month of mouth-watering, delicious dishes using only the best in seasonal ingredients.

Did you know that we have our own vineyard here at The Gunroom Restaurant?

It features Chardonnay and Phoenix vines that commenced their journey in 2022. We would like to thank Colin and Charlotte from Gwinllan Conwy for not only supplying us with incredible wines over the last few years, but also for their assistance and guidance with our very own small project here at Gwinllan Plas Dinas. They boast year's of experience and produce some of the best wines in the UK.

The countdown is now on until we are producing our own wines. We hope to have a wine made using our own grapes next year. We currently make use of the vine pruning's to smoke the butter here in our restaurant.

Did you know that we have the largest known collection of Welsh wine on offer in our restaurant? It is an important part of The Gunroom story to date and was recognised by the AA with a Notable Wine List award for the last 3 years.
