The school run is definitely done, or at least for the next few days / weeks and that inbox can certainly wait. You've got at least an hour or two to relax. Come and use it properly.

Our breakfast menu runs from 9:30am every day and it is genuinely one of the best in Bury. Fresh, made to order, by a team that takes a morning meal as seriously as dinner. Try our Turkish Eggs, three poached eggs on yoghurt with a Moroccan spiced sauce that changes the way you think about breakfast. Or go classic with Steak & Eggs, chilli spiced. Or start gently with Salmon on Toast, avocado and Greek yoghurt.

Whatever you choose, it's made fresh when you order. Not before. We're on The Rock, Bury. Open from 9:30am. Breakfast served until 11:15am (12:30pm Sundays).

What an amazing day we had today celebrating Mother’s Day with all our amazing mums, my team worked so hard and delivered a perfect service, despite running out of beef, sorry Sis 🤪😂🥰 happy Mother’s Day to all, those we get to share it with, the ones we miss, the in-laws we could not be without and to whoever takes on that role, you leave a lifetimes legacy that will always be cherished 🥰❤️🥰

Today is Mother’s Day, a day to appreciate the most important and influential person in many of our lives.

Today’s post is dedicated in memory of Alison, Molly’s mum. Someone we sadly never had the chance to meet, but the woman who raised our iconic front-of-house Princess Molly (her words, not ours).

Molly has been part of the Barista team for over five years. We were her very first job in hospitality and from day one she absolutely slayyyed it.

I still remember her interview during Covid like it was yesterday, and the many conversations we’ve had since about the values, strength and compassion her mum instilled in her. The things that helped her find her feet here at Barista and that continue to guide her through university, her career and life.

She may be tiny in stature, but Molly has the heart of a lion. Fiercely determined, wise beyond her years and one of the most emotionally aware people you’ll ever meet. She has a rare ability to notice when someone is struggling and support them in ways most people simply can’t.

Losing her mum so young left deep scars, but Molly has turned that pain into purpose, living life fully, chasing her goals and doing everything she can to make her mum proud. She’s also the craziest member of our team (in the best possible way), fiercely loyal and always determined to bring laughter into the room. Once Molly enters your life, you quickly realise you want her to stay in it.

But long before Molly ever met us, she was someone’s daughter. Someone’s everything. She was Alison’s youngest daughter.

This is Molly with her mum back in the 2000s. Although we never had the chance to meet you, Alison, we want to thank you for the incredible young woman you raised.

Today is Mother’s Day, a day to appreciate the most important and influential person in many of our lives.

This week has been about the mums that made our team. Today… it’s my turn. (Have a little look through the photos and see if you can spot me 🤍)

My mum, Mavis, was the heart of our home. The back door was always open. There was always something cooking. And if it wasn’t right, it simply didn’t leave the kitchen. She fed everyone. Friends, neighbours, whoever we happened to bring home. No fuss, no show — just love, pride and a table that was always full.

I didn’t realise it at the time, but that’s where Barista really began. In her kitchen. In the way she made people feel.

Barista has been mine for 15 years. But long before that, I was hers. She may not be here now, but she’s in this place every single day, in the standards, in the welcome, in the care.

This Sunday is for her. And for every mum who’s ever sat at one of our tables 🤍

Open from 10am until 6pm. No rushing its what our mums deserve.

All week, I’ve been introducing you to the mums that made our team.

Today… it’s my turn, but before the pics, a little about the woman who made me, Mavis Kay, born in 1940, along with her twin sister, Aunty Joyce, both arrived weighing less than a bag of sugar, both so small they slept in shoe boxes.

Mum would always send things back if they weren’t right. Mum was the one whose back door was always open, for us, for our friends, for anyone who needed feeding or whoever we brought home. There was always food on the table. Always something fresh in the oven. Everything made from scratch, no shortcuts, no fuss - just a Mother's pride.

Her baked Alaska.
Her rice pudding (with skin-on IYKYK).
Her lemon meringue pie.
If you could name it, she could make it.

She didn’t just cook. She hosted. She welcomed. She quietly set the standard.
Looking back, I don’t need to wonder where my love of hospitality came from. It was there long before Barista ever existed. Long before I knew it would become my life.
Barista has been mine for 15 years. But long before that, I was hers.

To my mum, who may no longer be here but is with me in this place every single day and to every mum who’s made memories at our tables, this Sunday is for you. 🤍

We’re open from 10am, and for the first time ever, until 6pm. Because no mum should ever have to rush. See you Sunday 🌹

Today we’re putting one of our newest kitchen team members in the spotlight, Fletcher. He originally joined us as a stop gap while figuring out university and what path he wanted to take, but it didn’t take long for him to become a truly valued part of the team.

Despite having no previous experience, Fletcher threw himself into every task with real commitment and enthusiasm. He’s shown a genuine interest in everything the chefs do, always keen to learn, always wanting to improve and never afraid to get stuck in. That attitude hasn’t gone unnoticed.

What started as an entry-level role is already growing into something more, and we’re now helping Fletcher develop his skills further so he can continue progressing in the kitchen and eventually run his own section during service. He’s a perfectionist, a grafter and a quiet, calm presence in a kitchen full of bigger personalities, and that balance is worth its weight in gold.

We love hearing his stories about cooking for his parents at home too… some dishes go down better than others 😅 but what matters most is that he keeps learning, keeps trying and keeps growing in confidence. He’s already become a much-loved part of our kitchen crew, and we know Barista wouldn’t feel the same without him.

But long before he joined Team Barista, he was someone’s son. Someone’s everything. This is Fletcher with his mum Claire, looking adorable in a suit and tie at a family wedding many years ago 🤍
