We had a wonderful 3rd Birthday to celebrate our amazing team! Who would have thought so many lovely women aged from 17-82 from Scotland, Ireland, England, Ukraine, India, Kenya, Syria, Nigeria , Germany and beyond would form such a braw community around great food and excellent cake in an old council building in a kids playpark! ! Go us- Braw Women indeed. Big thanks to who made us such excellent pizzas for our party there- if you haven’t been, then you are missing a treat! fans Visit Broughty Ferry

It’s true! Today is our 3rd birthday! Exactly 3 years ago today we opened our social enterprise cafe doors (10/6/23) not quite sure what to expect to be honest!
In that time our cafe has grown and grown and we are so incredibly proud and thankful to everyone who supports us - loyal customers, amazing staff and volunteers, professional supporters and folks who donate to support our cause. Our ethos has never changed- we support women who may have extra challenges in life. We all need certain things in life - people who believe in us ( friends if not family), economic independence (£) and self-esteem/self-confidence. We work hard through our community to give this through friendships and a community, professional training and experience to help get jobs, personal development to support resilience. So we have jumped on the Matcha craze at Braw Tea to see what you guys think! Have it iced/hot/ with vanilla syrup- whatever floats your boat. Perfect for sunny times.
Other specials this week
- Millionaire Krispie Cakes - always fly off the shelf.
- A gorgeous Frittata (gf) with smoked cheddar, caramelised red onion and potato served with dressed greens and crisps- a lighter lunchtime healthy choice

Oh and we made PLUM JAM yesterday so are serving that with our very good always freshly baked triangular scones till its all gone!

We’re open as usual this weekend Fri-Mon 9:30-4:00 ☀️☀️

Our special bake this week is a gorgeous Turkish delight (rose and chocolate) sponge with rose buttercream.

We have rhubarb and custard sponge on today as well - with rhubarb grown by our lovely volunteer Aileen.

We have lots of your usual favourites on as well. Even if the weathers not quite as nice this week pop by for a braw cake and a cuppa ☕️ 💕

So this Special cake- Coffee and Cardamon was inspired by a gorgeous coffee and cardamon ice-cream I had recently by (see pic 3). I came back to Braw Tea after attending the really great food market raving about the flavour- the hit of caffeine followed by the sweet depth of cardamon and my lovely baker colleagues said ‘we can make that into a cake’ and as they say- VOILA! A COFFEE AND CARDAMON CAKE inspired by a delicious ice-cream. 😁🍦🍰

We have a lovely new artwork adorning the cafe walls. ‘I’m a Braw Tea Lassie’ was screen-printed by one of our lovely volunteer team- Diane and donated to the cafe. It now hangs with pride and you can see it from tomorrow when we open for service ( Fri-Mon 9.30-4pm). We have been in baking and cooking up a storm today. Coffee and Cardamon cake and Carrot Cake are our special bakes plus all our regulars ( too many to mention - will take photos tomorrow!) and gorgeous soups, Sourdough Toasties, Salads, Baked spuds, veggie, vegan, GF foods that are made with care, healthy, wholesome, tasty - made by the Braw Lassies with pride. Braw Baristas! We now have 8 trained baristas at Braw Tea and have given them aptly named baseball caps for our sunny coffee cart days! We are Braw Tea- Broughty Ferry’s social enterprise cafe where good coffee, good food and good times meet thanks to our braw team. We open up again today (Fri till Monday 9.30-4pm) with some new gorgeous bakes ( Coffee and Cardamon!) and tasty savoury breakfasts and lunches.
