🎶 The Sound of Music Bingo Every Sunday @ The Burton Hotel 🎶
Scene: The children are gathered in the gardens of The Burton Hotel. Maria arrives carrying a basket of Music Bingo cards and Dabbers!. The children run excitedly towards her.
CHILDREN (all together):
Maria! Maria! What is Music Bingo?
MARIA (laughing):
Why, children, Music Bingo is one of my favourite things!
GRETL:
Is it a quiz?
MARIA:
Oh no, little Gretl, not at all!
KURT:
Do we have to know all the answers?
MARIA:
Not a single one!
BRIGITTA:
Then how do we play?
MARIA (singing lightly):
♪ When the music starts a-playing,
And the videos appear,
You simply watch and listen,
To the songs you love to hear! ♪
CHILDREN:
But what about the Bingo?
MARIA:
♪ The song titles and the artists
Will be shining on the screen,
Eight decades full of Top Ten hits,
The greatest ever seen! ♪
LOUISA:
So what do we do?
MARIA:
♪ If the song is on your card,
Mark it quickly, don't be slow,
And when you've matched them all together,
Shout out loudly, "MUSIC BINGO!" ♪
CHILDREN (excitedly):
MUSIC BINGO, MUSIC BINGO!
MARIA:
That's right!
FRIEDRICH:
Are there prizes?
MARIA:
Oh yes!
MARIA (spinning happily):
♪ Cash prizes every game, my dears,
And a jackpot too, you'll find,
One hundred pounds is guaranteed
For the lucky, winning mind! ♪
KURT:
How much are the cards?
MARIA:
Only One Gold Coin each!
GRETL:
And when does it begin?
MARIA:
♪ Cards go on sale at seven o'clock,
Then gather round and stay,
At half past seven the music starts,
And we'll sing the night away! ♪
BRIGITTA:
Must we sing well?
MARIA (pretending to be shocked):
Certainly not!
MARIA:
♪ Bad singing is encouraged,
The louder, the better, it's true!
Air punching, dancing, laughing loud,
There's plenty of fun to do! ♪
CHILDREN:
Hooray!
MARIA:
And remember, children, bring your gold coins for your Music Bingo cards.
LOUISA:
Can everyone come?
MARIA:
Of course! Entry is absolutely free, but booking is wise because the room fills very quickly.
