Pickled and smoked herring, beetroot, celeriac and potato salad.

Sometimes you have dishes you wish could grace the menu a little longer but also believe that’s what makes them so special. Using produce when it’s available and at its best always delivers quality. Dishes come and go on our menu each week because of this way of cooking and it is hard to capture them all but glad we did with this one.

Goodbye Nathan 👋

Today marks Nathan’s last day with us at Root. He joined the company back in 2017 at Salt & Malt straight from cooking college, before moving on to The Pony & Trap, Pony Bistro, and finally spending the last three years with us here at Root.

Nathan is a hard grafter and an exceptional chef who somehow makes every prep job seem easy. Thanks for the sing-songs, the giggles and the life long relationships formed along the way

The menus across the sites are constantly changing which is amazing, each having their own personality and life of their own. With that it means it’s not always possible to get great shots to share with you all.

However you may have noticed our socials have been looking a little sharper of recent, thanks to whom not only has now worked across all three sites but is very talented with a camera.

Thank you to Adam for brining abit of life and giving our food the love it deserves. Plenty more to come.

At the Table is a monthly, intimate dinner series hosted in the MAZI community kitchen, surprise menus from some of Bristol’s best chefs, celebrating local food, connection and togetherness.

Perfect for food lovers, community enjoyers, and anyone who believes good food can do good things
Huge thanks to and for supporting these events.

All funds raised directly support The MAZI Project’s work using food to reduce isolation, build confidence, and help young people feel seen and valued.
