We at the Ropemakers are extremely excited to hear the superb line up of Live Music this weekend as we welcome back some excellent musicians. It all starts on the Friday evening, not with music, but with the weekly Charity Meat Draw at 6:00pm. For just £1 for a ticket you could be in the running for one of the fine prizes. All proceeds go to The Living Tree, Bridport’s very own cancer support group.

The music starts later in the evening with an international feel when we are visited by two of the finest guitarists you will see in a pub! Reinis Jaunis and the The Flamenco Thief Thief take the stage at 8:30pm. We are really proud to welcome Reinis Jaunais to Bridport all the way from Riga, Latvia and Craig Sutton, aka “The Flamenco Thief”. The unifying element of the music of Reinis Jaunais and The Flamenco Thief is the love of traveling the world where they first met during their long concert tours.
In the duo concert of the musicians, global instrumental music will intertwine with poetry by various authors in Latvian, flamenco guitar playing will interact with elements of Balkan, Latin American and Hip Hop music .
The musicians will use the technique of looping (recording different melodies on the spot and then playing them back at the same time), thus achieving an almost orchestral sound on stage, as well as using their instruments as live percussion.

On Saturday you will be able to skank your hearts out when we welcome D'Ska Assassins back for their splendid sets. Starting at 8:30pm, they will have you tripping those feet in no time at all. Having supported legends like Neville Staple from the Specials and The Beat, The Ska Assassins are one of the most popular and in-demand Ska bands in the Southwest, performing classic Ska covers and their own in factious originals.

Sunday sees a more gentle approach with the 21st Jun – Jinder – 4:00pm - Jinder (born 19 April 1981) is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is best known for his extensive catalogue of dark folk- and country-influenced solo work, including his 2019 Top 40 single, 'Keep Me in Your Heart', which features in the 2019 film Fisherman's Friends and has been successfully covered by many other artists. He is also known for his brief tenure as the frontman of the Mercurymen.

If you are not going to the Beer Festival then as always there is some excellent music at the Ropemakers, but it all starts on Friday evening with the weekly Charity Meat Draw at 6pm.
Later we have the marvellous Millie Watson playing at 8:30pm - Raised by Festival Traders, Millie spent her childhood summers travelling around the UK festival circuit. Bunking off School to kick of the season at Glastonbury, Millie had little choice but to be emersed in a rich soup of music and culture.
In between School and Festivals, Millie and her Dad were a regular on the Kent folk club scene. A safe haven for the old, tortured and sinical, Millie learnt her songwriting from the best.
A big old soul, right down to her bones, Millies music is deeply imbedded in folky roots. With her silky voice and husky tones she plays a range of melodies for the hopeless, and hopeful. Her raw honesty and warm stage presence leaves audiences melted and disarmed.
In 2023 Millie won "Best Newcomer" at the Dorset Music Awards. Later on that year she went on the win Tollpuddle Festival Acoustic competition, and play several sets at Glastonbury.

If you are still standing on Saturday evening then we have some superb Ska with The Goodfellas playing at 8:30pm – The Goodfellas are one of the regions much-loved Ska bands. Their five piece line up play songs from the 50’s and 60’s Ska Dance Hall era. Expect great beatgs , sharp brass, amazing keys, brass and high-energy up-tempo Ska and Reggae tunes that will make you dance. ..
Sunday – Wind down and relax with the beautiful sounds of Jim Reynolds at 4:00pm - Jim Reynolds is a guitarist and singer who writes and plays an eclectic mix of music. The individual pieces tap into blues, ragtime, rhythm and blues, music hall and folk traditions. Some are extremely sensitive songs about life, people and relationships, while others are tongue in cheek. His albums are also sprinkled with classics from the likes of J.J. Cale, Nick Drake, John Martyn, Roy Orbison, the Inkspots, Jelly Roll Morton and Jimmy Rogers.

Friday 5th June sees the amazing Luke Philbrick and the Solid Gone Skiffle Invasion on at 8:30pm - Hailing from South West England, Luke Philbrick and the Solid Gone Skiffle Invasion have built up a strong local fan-base always leaving audiences wanting more during their many travels throughout the UK and Europe. Innovative roots rock and skiffle music drawing on traditional blues, jazz and folk influences and with frequent forays into gypsy-tinged psychedelia.

Saturday 6th June sees the stupendous Du Glas playing at 8:30pm - Born out of the vibrant music scene in Penzance, Du Glas offer their own brand of inventive and energetic heartland rock combining influences from Americana and folk music.
Du Glas (Cornish for ‘black’ and ‘blue’) began their adventure in 2016 with Lucy Osborne (lead singer) and Anthony Power (guitarist and songwriter) performing at open mic nights and jam sessions in West Cornwall. With Lucy’s background in theatre and Anthony’s catchy tunes and meaningful lyrics, the duo captured audiences’ hearts with their emotional and dynamic music.

Sunday 7th June We welcome the superstar talents of FMI Clatters who will play at 4:00pm - Plymouth's folky, storytelling, festival regular with alter egos such as swingball man and a mild mannered teacher!
Clatters plays a combination of self-penned songs, mixed with parodies and the odd sea shanty on guitar and mandolin. His songs combine wit and humour with lyrics that can pull at the heart strings. We hope that you join in with the mega anthem that is “Nobby Clarke!”
