A new era for the Pheasant at Neenton
Marcus Bean Chef Joins Community-Owned Pheasant at Neenton to Help Shape an Exciting New
Chapter.
Neenton Community Society, which owns and runs the Pheasant at Neenton is delighted to announce the appointment of award-winning chef, presenter and hospitality consultant Marcus Bean who joins the team, supporting the directors of the much-loved community-owned pub as it enters an exciting new phase.
Following the decision by long-serving managers Mark and Sarah to step down after an incredible 12 years at the helm, Marcus has been appointed as a hospitality consultant, working alongside the directors a couple of days each week to help guide the transition and build on the pub's strong foundations.
His role will include recruiting and developing a new management team, creating fresh seasonal menus, refining the food and drink offering, supporting marketing and social media, and helping give the business a thoughtful refresh while ensuring it remains at the heart of the local
community.
The transition to a new management team will be led by the Society’s Trading Directors Simon Hall and Vince Walker, supported by John Pickup, Society Chair.
Marcus, who is well known throughout Shropshire and across the UK through his work as a chef, television presenter and hospitality consultant, believes The Pheasant has a unique opportunity to write its next successful chapter.
Marcus said "Mark and Sarah have done an incredible job over the past 12 years, creating a pub that people genuinely love and are proud to support. My role isn't to change what makes The Pheasant special, but to help build on everything that's already been achieved."
"Community-owned pubs are incredibly important. They bring people together, support local suppliers and create a real sense of belonging. I'm excited to work alongside the directors to recruit a fantastic new team, introduce some fresh ideas, and ensure The Pheasant continues to thrive for many years to come."
Marcus brings decades of experience across restaurants, events, television and consultancy, helping hospitality businesses develop strong teams, improve operations and create memorable customer experiences. His social media following and profile within the food industry will also help showcase The Pheasant to both local audiences and visitors from further afield.
Working closely with the directors, Marcus will focus on creating a welcoming environment
where outstanding food, genuine hospitality and community remain at the centre of everything
the pub does.
The plans include developing new seasonal menus using quality ingredients, strengthening links with local producers, building an enthusiastic and passionate team, creating engaging events throughout the year and ensuring The Pheasant continues to be a destination for both locals and visitors alike.
"This isn't simply about recruiting staff or writing menus," Marcus added. "It's about creating a
team that genuinely cares about the pub, its customers and the community that owns it. If we
can achieve that, then we'll be building something really special together."
We’re delighted to have secured Marcus’s services, and we look forward to working with him as we begin the search for the next generation of hospitality professionals who will lead the business into the future.
