And the winner is… Dominic Carey🎉
Who wins two of our delicious burgers from our new menu 👌

Quite a few of you were quick to spot the film and character connections. Dominic was the first to make the full connection between Nick Nack and the Thousand Island dressing—so congratulations, Dominic! 🏆

Here’s the full story behind the burgers:

Cogburn’s Heat is our honey-Sriracha chicken burger, with toasted sesame mayo and pickled cucumber. The name nods to Rooster Cogburn in True Grit, with a little heat to go with the character.

Nick Nack’s Crossfire brings together a beef burger and Piri-Piri king prawns, with Thousand Island dressing. Nick Nack is the Bond character from The Man with the Golden Gun; the “crossfire” hints at the film’s guns, while Thousand Island points to its island setting.

Balbricker’s Revenge is a Cumberland pork burger with vintage cheddar, bacon jam and slaw. The name is a nod to Beulah Balbricker and Porky’s Revenge—with pork and bacon in the burger to complete the joke.

What a wonderful weekend at The Pheasant! ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who came to see us. We had an awesome quiz night, a super Steak Night on Friday, extremely busy Saturday, and then rounded everything off with a very special Sunday lunch.

We were lucky enough to celebrate three remarkable birthdays—80, 84 and an incredible 96 years young! 🎂🥂

Happy birthday to all three of you, and thank you for choosing to celebrate with us. Weekends like this are exactly why we love what we do.

🧹 HOUSEKEEPER WANTED — THE PHEASANT INN, CUMWHITTON

We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves cleaning and takes real pride in making everything look just right.

The role is four days per week, including one weekend day, working from 9.30am until 2.30pm.

We offer good rates of pay and no previous housekeeping experience is necessary. What matters to us is that you’re reliable, happy working independently and have a great eye for detail.

You’ll help us keep The Pheasant and our three holiday cottages looking their very best for every guest.

OMG!!! What a night! 🤩🧠🍻

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our September Charity Quiz Night. Nine teams battled it out and an impressive five teams broke through the 80% barrier!

But there could only be one winner…

🏆 The Randoms did it again!

Following their August victory, they made it back-to-back wins with a brilliant 54 points out of 60 — an incredible 90%, dropping just six points throughout the entire quiz!

The team donated their winning purse to the Great North Air Ambulance Service. A fantastic result for a very worthy local cause. 👏

Hot on their heels were our runners-up, Fed’s Neds, who scored an excellent 52 out of 60 — 87% and finished just two points behind the winners.

Fed’s Neds kindly donated their purse to Dementia UK. Thank you! 🙏

A special mention must also go to The Misfits Are Back!, who completed a very strong top three with 51 points and 85%.

And the all-important prize for Best Team Name went to…

🤣 Norfolk in Chance! 🤣

Thank you to every team who came along, joined in and helped us raise another £125 for charity. Great company, plenty of laughs and some very impressive quizzing!
