We are utterly delighted to have made it onto the North East England Tourism short list for Pub of the Year 2027.

This award is extra special as it denotes our continued contribution to tourism in the north east. To us this translates into our ongoing investment and support of our local community, creating jobs and contributing to the economy.
Pub of the Year is an accolade that says many things.
The food that Connor and the team produce in the kitchen rivals that of many high-end restaurants across the country. Our bar and w**e list are equally impressive, while our four bedrooms offer a luxurious place to stay.

Chef’s Tasting Dinner in collaboration with Tomás Gormley, Cardinal, Edinburgh – Wednesday 21st October 2026

We’re delighted to invite you to an exceptional dining experience on Wednesday 21st October, when Connor will be joined in the kitchen by guest chef Tomás Gormley to prepare a menu of wonderful seasonal dishes, showcasing their individual creativity and shared passion for local, sustainable produce.

Celebrated chef Tomás and his team opened Cardinal, Edinburgh in March 2024, presenting their elevated take on modern Scottish dining.

Don’t miss this opportunity to savour some of the finest Scottish and Northumbrian produce, conjured into mouthwatering dishes by these two masters of their craft. We are absolutely thrilled, delighted and incredibly proud to have won the Great British Pub Awards – Best Pub for Food 2026!

This is a huge honour and one that means so much to our entire team. It is wonderful recognition of the passion, hard work and dedication that goes into every plate, every service and every guest experience at The Kirkstyle.

But this award is about more than just us. It is a celebration of our wonderful rural community and a proud moment for our little pub in Slaggyford. To be recognised on a national stage is a fantastic endorsement of what can be achieved in the most remote corners of the country, and it reinforces our ambition to help put Northumberland firmly on the culinary map.

Thank you to the Great British Pub Awards team for choosing The Kirkstyle. We couldn’t be more proud, and we certainly couldn’t have done it without our incredible team, our loyal locals, our fantastic suppliers and every guest who has supported us along the way. Thank you!
