Serving modern British dishes made with local Cornish produce, Fern offers relaxed dining, seasonal flavours, and a true taste of the South West. Nestled in the heart of Nanstallon, Fern is a new restaurant and bar inspired by the beauty, bounty, and changing moods of Cornwall’s seasons. Our food is guided by flavour and designed to evolve — reflecting the moment, the produce, and the creativity o

f our kitchen. We believe a menu should never stand still; it should grow, adapt, and surprise, offering something new each time you visit. At Fern, we aim to create more than just a meal — we’re building a relaxed, welcoming space where great food meets good company in a visually stunning setting. Whether you’re here for a leisurely lunch, a cosy evening meal, or a celebratory gathering, you’ll find an atmosphere that encourages you to linger, savour, and share. From vibrant spring greens to the rich, comforting flavours of autumn, the character of each season shapes what we serve. Every dish is thoughtfully crafted, balancing creativity with a respect for the natural flavours of each ingredient. Fern is a place for locals and visitors alike — a meeting point, a conversation starter, and a destination for those who appreciate relaxed dining with depth and personality. We want to put Nanstallon on the map for food lovers by offering an experience that feels both rooted in its surroundings and open to new ideas. Our name reflects our ethos: just as a fern unfurls over time, our restaurant will continue to grow and evolve, shaped by the people who cook here, the guests who dine here, and the seasons that inspire us. Welcome to Fern — a new chapter in Nanstallon’s food story.

The Royal Cornwall Show is here, and if you're making a day of it, why not make Fern part of the plan?

Join us for lunch before heading off to Wadebridge, or take things a little slower afterwards with a few snacks, a glass of wine, and something from the menu.

We're tucked away in the Cornish countryside at Nanstallon, just outside Bodmin, and open throughout the weekend.

Good food, good company, and a welcome break from the crowds.

Not every plate needs to be rich and indulgent.

Sometimes fresh vegetables, bright flavours and a bit of care are more than enough.
A lighter side of the menu, made for warmer days and slower lunches.

The weather’s warming up, the countryside’s looking good again, and lunch doesn’t need to be overcomplicated.

A slow wander through the lanes, a table in the sun, a few plates to share, maybe a glass of wine or something cold from the bar.

Nothing heavy. Just good food, a bit of fresh air, and an afternoon that ends up lasting longer than expected.

Not everything has to be a big meal.

Sometimes it’s just a couple of snacks, a glass of wine, maybe a coffee, and an hour to slow down for a bit.

That’s what lunch at Fern can be too. Pop in after a walk, catch up with someone, or just take a seat and order a few things that sound good.

No need to leave stuffed. Just enough to enjoy yourself.

Just around the corner from the Camel Trail, tucked away in the countryside near Nanstallon.

A place to pull in for lunch, order a few things for the table, have a drink and slow the afternoon down a bit.

No rush. No big plans needed.

Just good food, a cold pint and a spot worth stopping for.

Fern Fried Chicken.

Crunchy, spicy, slightly ridiculous to eat politely.

The sort of thing that lands on the table and suddenly everyone’s reaching over with “just one bit”.

Cold pints, a few cocktails, good company and fried chicken that doesn’t hang around for long.
