How the time flies, here we are having completed our Blackpool Carnival Santa Sleigh and I can't put into any words that can describe the looks on children's faces especially, although people of all ages, excitement, joy, disbelief, exuberance etc etc, absolutely priceless, we have achieved what we set out so to do, which is simply great.
This last few weeks has just gone to illustrate what we have known all along, that there is a tremendous community spirit throughout the Town and this is our way of trying to ensure, this goes from strength to strength.
It is clear that certain areas are lagging behind in that regard for whatever the reason and yes one of our main goals is to organise a tremendous annual event on the prom that all the local community can get involved with, enjoy and be proud of, but to achieve this we need all of the local community to be part of it. This therefore is the most important aspect of what we do and why we are doing what we are doing, we want to create one whole community working together as one, one area working with the next, supporting each other's events, helping each other, the better organised areas helping less organised ones.
One example of what a humbling experience this has been in some instances, children were really excited that Father Christmas was actually in their street, actually visiting them and a lady stopped in her car and came to speak to me and said
'What you are doing is just great, because many of these children will not have seen Father Christmas live in person and the small gifts that are being given to them are probably the only thing they will receive for Christmas'
Oh my gosh, what a very sad thought that is, something that the vast majority of us will take as granted without a second thought, is so very special to some children, in this day and age, there certainly is alot of work to be completed and we at Blackpool Carnival will do all we can to help that situation as much as we can.
Therefore the Blackpool Carnival held annually now, is organised by people in the area, for the benefit of everybody in the Town, the procession and the 3 day event, next year on Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd July inclusive, is OUR EVENT. Blackpool is highly experienced in organising many great events to attract millions of visitors to our Great Town but this is OUR EVENT, one that will of course attract visitors which must be good for the economics of the local area, but one in which we can all work together, to really get to know each other and individual area's problems and work to solving those problems together. It is a FREE event, everyone can enjoy the acts on the stage, enjoy all the other bits and pieces going on and especially the Carnival Procession on the Sunday and go home relaxed and happy and not having to spend anything at all, we want everybody to enjoy the Event with no exclusions at all.
My sincere thanks to Santa Clause who has been his normal incredible self, the reindeers who never stop, also our helpers, without which this would not have been possible and of course you the local people, thanks for your continued support, but don't forget to put into your diaries, next year's Carnival dates:
Friday evening of the 1st July, Saturday the 2nd July and Sunday the 3rd July.
