Flying Scotsman is Coming to Weardale Railway in November with Fox & Edwards Events!

From November 13th to 15th, the legendary locomotive will depart from Darlington for a scenic 60-mile journey over the Weardale Railway while you take in beautiful views of the Northern Pennines Natural Landscape.

There will be two departures a day, one in the morning leaving Darlington at 8:40 and an afternoon one from 13:40. Each journey will take approximately 4 hours, including time at Stanhope for passengers to take photographs.

Oliver Edwards, Director & General Manager of Fox & Edwards Events, said: "This November, a truly wonderful steam locomotive will bring pleasure, nostalgia and memories to thousands in the North East on these brand new journeys. We're very grateful to our superb partners for working together on this exciting development."

Claire Gibbons, General Manager at Weardale Railway, said: “We’re beyond thrilled to be welcoming the iconic Flying Scotsman to Weardale for the very first time. This will be a truly special occasion for our railway, our local communities and the wider region, providing a boost for tourism and local economy and giving people a fantastic opportunity to experience one of the most famous locomotives in railway history right here in the Durham Dales.

“We’re delighted to be working with Fox & Edwards Events to make this milestone possible and, with services running between Darlington and Stanhope, we hope it will encourage visitors from across the region and further afield to come and discover everything Weardale and the surrounding area has to offer.”

Our electoral register door-knock is about to begin in County Durham.

It’s all part of our annual canvass to make sure the voter registration details of every household are up to date.

Forms were posted to a number of households at the end of July, with residents asked to check the information held on them is accurate and follow the instructions on the form.

Canvassers will start calling at homes of those who haven’t responded from Wednesday, offering help to complete the forms and posting a reminder form through the door if no one is home.

All our canvassers will be wearing Durham County Council photo ID badges and hi-vis jackets. Please check these before you provide information to anyone.
