A massive thank you to everyone who has shown support to us over the last week. We are very humbled and grateful; you are all what makes our pub great and we are very lucky to have the best customers and a brilliant team of staff.

We have had some very productive communications with Greene King over the last few days. They have been very accommodating and agreed with all of us that the best thing for the pub now is to keep things as they are. We have been reassured that the brewery very much value our input and our working relationship with them.

Sorry to say but this means you’re all stuck with Creamer and Athey running the pub for the foreseeable future!

Why not join us at the pub tonight to celebrate with a pint of Asahi or Cruzcampo, just installed today… and only £4.80 a pint!!

…then the weekend gets even better because we have TWO bands on and the World Cup has started!

To our fantastic customers:

It is with a very heavy heart that we share the news that our time running The Green Tree is coming to an end. It is much more short lived than we wanted but we cannot be a part of the brewery’s plans for the pub.

When we took on the pub in January, our vision and relentless determination was to have a welcoming community pub with everything that all people in Bishop could want from a pub, and that everyone could enjoy for many years to come. Thanks to the incredible support of our customers, we’ve seen the pub thrive, grow busier, and develop the warm atmosphere we always hoped for. The pub’s trade has increased by 25% in just a few months.

Unfortunately, Greene King has decided to move the pub to a different operating model as one of their Nest Franchise pubs and despite our best efforts to find a way forward, the new arrangements simply aren’t workable for us as a business, and the brewery has indicated that they will not change their minds. The pub is a labour of love for us but we are a business and we can’t work for free. We completely respect that it is their pub and their decision, but, without going into details, for us it is completely unworkable.

We are immensely proud of what we’ve achieved together in a short space of time; from investing in improvements to introducing new food and drink offerings, including the best tacos from Birria Street Kitchen. on weekends and new draught products either installed or on the way. None of it would have been possible without your loyalty and support and the best team of staff in Bishop!

We love this pub, we love this community, and while we’re devastated not to be part of its future, we’ll definitely see you all around as customers ourselves. We sincerely hope The Green Tree continues to go from strength to strength and that the next operators understand what makes this pub so special in the same way that we do.
