Birmingham's Frankfurt Christmas Market returns on Thursday 5 November 🎄

From 5 November to Christmas Eve, Victoria Square and New Street will be full of festive stalls, lights and glühwein. We're just behind New Street on Ethel Street. When the crowds and the cold get too much, come in and sit down at a warm table for authentic Neapolitan pizza from our wood-fired oven.

Our Christmas plans are now online:

🎉 Christmas parties. Three courses for £49.95 per person, available through November and December. The menu includes slow-braised lamb shank, beef medallions in Barolo sauce and sea bass with lemon and capers. It works well for office teams and family get-togethers.

🎄 Christmas Day. We're open, with four courses for £89.95 per person. Choose from traditional roast turkey, lobster Thermidor, fillet steak with Dolcelatte sauce and more. No cooking and no washing up.

🥂 New Year's Eve. Our full à la carte menu with no set packages.

Friday. Finally. 🍕🍺

It's been one of those weeks, hasn't it? The inbox that wouldn't empty, the commute in the drizzle, the meeting that could have been an email.

Here's some good news. Today is International B**r and Pizza Day, and it falls on a Friday, which feels like a gift.

Picture it. You step in off Ethel Street, out of the grey, and the first thing you notice is the warmth from our wood-fired oven. A Margherita comes out blistered and bubbling, made the Neapolitan way with the finest ingredients. Someone at your table has gone for the Diavola. A cold b**r arrives alongside. The week starts to fade.

That's the experience we want every guest to have at our family-run restaurant in the heart of Birmingham. Whatever the weather does this weekend, let us be your sunshine. ☀️

We're open until midnight tonight and tomorrow (last orders 10pm), and 12 till 10pm on Sunday (last orders 8pm).

Definitely the best Italian around Birmingham!

Crossed arms mean someone's closed off, right? Not always, as it turns out. 🤔

It's National Body Language Day, and it seems we've all been following a bit of a myth. Crossed arms can also mean someone's comfortable, or simply thinking. Fair enough. Choosing between the Diavola and the San Daniel does take serious thought.

The signs that come after the food arrives are much harder to misread. After years of welcoming guests to our family-run restaurant, we know them by heart.

Eyes close on the first bite of carbonara. The conversation stops mid-sentence. Somebody smacks their lips and pretends they didn't. A fork wanders across the table "just to try". And our favourite: the last bit of crust chasing every drop of sauce round the plate. In Italy it's called fare la scarpetta, and we take it as the highest compliment.

A clear plate never lies. 😄

Today is National Chocolate Milk Day, and we've decided tiramisu counts. 🍫

Hear us out. Cocoa? Yes. Creamy? Very. Something you'd happily have again tomorrow? Absolutely.

There's a moment we see most evenings at La Galleria. The mains are cleared, someone says they couldn't possibly manage dessert, and then a tiramisu arrives at the next table. Suddenly everyone's reaching for the menu again. Savoiardi soaked in coffee, soft mascarpone and cocoa dusted over the top. It's the grown-up version of the chocolate milk you had after school.

Think of this as something to get your taste buds going for the week ahead. 😋
