Over 30 years ago, on a small piece of derelict land in Aston, John Aston came along with his mobile food trailer at 5.30 AM. He had lived and worked in the area ever since he was born and was happy to now again be working within the food industry with a new venture. He backed his trailer on to the land and started to prepare for his first day of trading, not knowing what this would bring. The sme
ll of fresh sizzling bacon soon filled the air. The first customer was soon to arrive. When he did John was prepped and ready. The man in front of John was a young gypsy man. John obviously must have made a good impression with his great, quality food , as well as his friendly face, as we still serve this gentleman today - 30 years on -as well as his extended family. John worked hard and soon realised that he needed help. He took on his sister in law, Sylvia. He was quick to realise that his trailer was not big enough, hence, 'Black Country Kitchens' was built! Even though John is in his late 70s, up until retirement recently, he played a very active part within the spirit and running of 'Black Country Kitchens' His son Gary and his wife Julie have now taken over the running of the shop, however John sometimes still makes an appearance, helping out and chatting to customers, old and new. Black Country Kitchens prides itself on supplying good, quality food to all of its customers.
