A little sneak peek of something very exciting… 👀✨

As i bring our third cakery in York to life, i wanted to share a glimpse of what’s to come. A huge thank you to our wonderful local interior specialist for supplying the most beautiful papers that are helping us create a space that’s every bit as special as the cakes we’ll be serving.
Her knowledge, creativity, and expertise have been invaluable throughout the process. From understanding exactly what would work within the space to helping bring my vision to life, her attention to detail and passion for interiors truly shine through in every recommendation.
I’m pouring so much love into every detail, and i can’t wait to welcome you through the doors soon. Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes updates as the vision comes together! 🤍✨

People don’t always realise how VAT affects small hospitality businesses.

As a cakery, we don’t pay VAT on many of the ingredients we buy because basic food products aren’t classed as luxury items. But the moment we turn those ingredients into a finished product and sell it as a brownie, cake, dessert or treat, we’re charged 20% VAT on the sale price.

So on a £3.50 brownie, around 58p goes straight to the VAT man before we’ve paid a penny towards rent, electricity, insurance, packaging, staff wages, National Insurance contributions, business rates, or any of the other rising costs that come with running a small business.

Hospitality businesses across the UK are being squeezed from every direction. Rising ingredient costs, higher wages, increased energy bills and business rates are already making it harder than ever to survive. Adding 20% VAT on top makes it even tougher.

That’s why it’s so important to support the campaign being backed by chef Tom Kerridge and the UK hospitality sector, calling for a reduction in hospitality VAT from 20% to 10%. The campaign argues that a lower VAT rate would help protect jobs, support independent businesses, and keep our high streets alive. (Instagram)

If you care about your local cafés, bakeries, pubs, restaurants and independent food businesses, please take a moment to support and share the petition. The hospitality industry isn’t asking for a bailout — it’s asking for a fair chance to survive and grow.

Our Afternoon Tea is now available at both our Mirfield and Beverley Cakerys as part of our regular lunch menu.

There’s no need to pre-book anymore — simply pop in and order when you visit. Previously, I prepared afternoon teas in advance for bookings, but unfortunately some bookings were cancelled or guests forgot to attend, leaving tables empty.

By adding Afternoon Tea to our everyday lunch offering, it gives everyone more flexibility and helps us serve you better.

If you would still prefer to reserve a table, bookings are available at our Mirfield cakery only — just pop in and speak to the team. ✨

That’s another week over with ❤️

If I’m honest, the last couple of weeks have felt heavy. Running a business that’s grown bigger than I ever imagined while constantly fighting my way to the top can be overwhelming at times. Trying to carry everything, stay focused, keep pushing forward and still show up every day definitely catches up with you.

I’ve felt flat, overwhelmed and mentally drained lately, but tomorrow is a fresh week… and my birthday week 🎉

I’ve never really been someone who enjoys celebrating getting older, but I’ll always be grateful for where I am today, how far I’ve come, and everything still ahead of me ❤️

If I could speak to my younger self in primary school—as the founder and creator of Qream T’s Cakery, the CEO of my dream would be;

The daydreams that became my reality, my passion—I’d say: don’t ever believe the voices that tell you you’re not enough. There will be bullies, people who doubt you, even teachers who don’t see your potential, and people along your journey who try to dull your light—but you will shine even brighter. They might say you won’t succeed, that you won’t amount to anything—but they’re wrong. Being a dreamer isn’t a weakness, it’s a gift. So hold onto those daydreams and turn them into reality, because we only get one life. Don’t let the hate or pressure make you change. Stay true to who you are, because that’s where your strength lies.
