Our White Russian is built around Spirit of Yorkshire Cream Liqueur, using it as the core flavour alongside coffee liqueur and Black Cow Vodka for a rich, smooth after-dinner drink.

🎨 ARTISTS WANTED 🎨
We’ve found ourselves with six spaces becoming available on our walls, following the wonderful photography of Elise Thomas whose family have so kindly allowed us to display her beautiful work at the restaurant.

We’d firstly like to say a huge thank you to Elise’s family for allowing us to enjoy and share her photography with our guests. Elise was incredibly talented, and her beautiful photographs have become such a lovely part of the restaurant. Her work will certainly be missed from our walls. 🤎

We’re now looking for some new artists to showcase their work with us, and as always, there is no charge for displaying your artwork.
Our spaces are fairly large, so we’re particularly looking for larger pieces that will work well within the restaurant.

We’d especially love to hear from artists whose work celebrates the beauty of our local area — landscapes, nature, countryside, local places and the Yorkshire landscape. This feels particularly fitting for us, as we’re passionate about championing everything local, from our producers and ingredients to the people and places around us. 🤎

If you’re a local artist or photographer and think your work might be a good fit for the space, we’d love to hear from you. Please send us a DM with a little bit about yourself and your work, along with some examples of the pieces you’d like to display.

We do tend to receive a vast number of messages whenever we put a call-out like this, so please don’t be disappointed if we aren’t able to reply to everyone individually. Every single message and submission is genuinely appreciated, and we’re incredibly grateful that so many talented people want to share their work with us.

Christmas at Plates by Oxalis 🎄

Our Christmas menu will be running throughout December, bringing together the flavours and nostalgia of a British Christmas through our seasonal eight-course tasting menu.

From Prawn Cocktail and Pigs in Blankets to Partridge, Mulled W**e and Clementine Trifle — familiar festive flavours, reworked in the Plates by Oxalis style.

8 courses | £75pp
Optional Cheese +£10pp

We can cater for most dietary requirements and are happy to adapt the menu where possible. Please let us know of any requirements when booking so we can prepare accordingly.

Starting this week, we’re refining our offering to give every guest a more consistent experience of what we’re trying to showcase at Plates.

We’ll be moving away from our current 7 and 9 course options and introducing one 8-course tasting menu at £75 per person, with an optional cheese course for £10.

Alongside this, our 4-course lunch menu will be available Thursday to Saturday at £50 per person, while the 8-course menu remains our core offering.

Having one complete evening menu allows us to focus the kitchen and service around a single experience, while continuing to develop the food seasonally and push the restaurant forward.

Lunch — 4 courses £50
Tasting menu — 8 courses £75
Optional cheese course — £10

We did it! 🌹🌹

I’m incredibly proud to announce that Plates by Oxalis has been awarded 2 AA Rosettes for culinary excellence.

Yesterday we had an unexpected visit from an AA inspector, and at the end of the meal I was given the news that we had achieved 2 Rosettes from our very first inspection.

When I started Oxalis, I wanted to create a restaurant that pushed me as a chef and that Beverley could be proud of. To receive recognition like this means more to me than I can really put into words.

But none of it would be possible without the people who have supported us.

To everyone who has eaten with us, returned again and again, recommended us to friends and family, joined our W**e Clubs, bought vouchers, shared our posts or simply told someone about our little restaurant — thank you.

And a massive thank you to Dan, who has been alongside me helping build Oxalis into what it is today. I might cook the food, but this restaurant is very much a team effort.

We’re still a tiny independent restaurant with big ambitions, and there is plenty more that I want us to achieve.

But today, I’m going to enjoy this one.

🎨 LOCAL ARTISTS WANTED 🎨

We’re looking for one or two local artists to join us at Plates by Oxalis and showcase their artwork in our restaurant.

Sadly, our wonderful artist Peter Ainsworth is moving on from displaying his work with us, and although we’re really going to miss his beautiful pieces, it gives us the opportunity to welcome some new local talent. 🤎

We currently have six spaces available for artwork, and we’re particularly looking for pieces with a landscape, countryside or Yorkshire feel — something that would complement the atmosphere of the restaurant.

We’d love paintings or artwork inspired by the countryside, landscapes, nature, food,local places and the beautiful surroundings we have here in Yorkshire. 🌿🌾

There is NO CHARGE for displaying your work.

We simply want to use our little corner of the restaurant to showcase local talent, support local artists and hopefully help introduce your work to new people. If guests fall in love with a piece and want to enquire about purchasing it, we’d be more than happy to put them in touch with you.

So, if you’re an artist and think your work might be a good fit, please send us a message with some examples of your work.
